stock wheels
if i'm reading things correctly, the base model had forged wheels and the "S" wheels are forged & machined. is this correct?

I think that's the case, but I'm not entirely sure...
I would be interested in finding out the weight of the stock wheels vs the S-wheels, I know there is about a 2 lbs difference (?), but what are the weights??

I'm pretty sure that the S is forged and the non-S is cast aluminum. Even on the cast wheels, they would machine for rotors and bearings and maybe even the inside of the rims so that the tire seats nicely.

if you looks at the difference in the spokes, the "S" model is thinner, which would be a result of machining. I could see the machining process to shave 2lbs off the wheel weight.
just bored, and trying to settle a lil debate between friends.
also sent an email to Ducati to get and answer
kinda like the debate that we had over the prononciation of the company "TEIN" LOL

HM1100 has cast aluminum alloy wheels; HM1100S has forged aluminum wheels. Ducati's sales literature speaks of the non-S version having "alloy" wheels and the S having "forged alloy" wheels.

Well, that does say the 1100 has forged wheels......but the wheels themselves don't say forged.....looking at the wheels, the spokes are pretty damn small for the power and weight. Maybe they are......

All I know is, the S wheels are pretty fergin' light! The 5-spoke cast Marchesinis on my 998 feel like boat anchors by comparison...
I haven't had my hands on a set of standard HM wheels to compare, though.

I remember seeing somewhere that the S wheels are 4.4 kg lighter than the standard wheels. That's a pretty significant difference.
