Can't take the stalling!!! 1400 miles and going back to dealer.
I know there have been several other threads about the stalling, surging, popping, low idle, or whatever else you want to call it, but I wanted to start a new one to track the process from the start to end so someone might find a single thread with some answers.
The short back groud is that I bought my Hyper about 4 weeks ago and have been riding the wheels of it since! I love the bike even in its stock glory (minus the charcoal canister), but ever since I brought it in to have the maintenance light turned off at about 1000 miles it's picked up a few symptoms that have been progressively getting worse since. THe day I brought it in to have the light turned off they siad they had to hook it up and check for codes, etc. So they do, and find a lambda code (O2 sensor?)... I had noticed it felt low on power on the way to the dealer, but after clearing the code and resetting the TPS all was good for the ride home. The next day it stalled once after starting it hot, so I payed attention to the RPM's at idle after restarting and noticed is was a little low dipping down to1200-1250.
Fast forward a week and a half to last night when I went out riding with the usual group of guys i ride with and there I am struggling to brake for stop lights, keep the bike running, and then take off as if nothing was wrong. After about the 5th time stalling everyone was on to me and asking what was wrong with my new $15K Ducati... Most of the guys I ride with ride Duc's also so that doesn't bother me, but after numerous stalls causing me to almost get run over I was ready to give the bike a ghost ride! The whole time I just couldn't help think about my carbed 99' M900S that I sold to buy the Hyper and how it never had running issues despite being carbed...
I've called the dealer and notified them that it's coming in tonight and that I've got a track day next week that's non-refundable. Stayed tuned for updates and hopefully a nice ending.

Ohh maaan.
I just put the wheels in motion to buy a brand new HM S.
I also had searched all over this forum, but could not find a solid fix for the stalling.
I will be watching this thread with enthusiasm.

I just dropped mine off today. This is the fourth time it's going in for stalling. Different dealer than the last 3 times. I've had the ECU and exhaust valve flapper replaced so far. Obviously not fixed yet. There's obviously an wide spread problem and I wish Ducati would get on the ball and figure it out.

ditto on the stalling
Same symptoms:
Stalls once or twice on cold start up then runs fine until hot
Once hot stalls anytime you go to idle
Very frustrating and not exactly confidence inspiring. Going to the dealer at the end of the week and I will post the results.
DNA take note...

This is EXACTLY what my bike has been doing. Once hot I can't even think of letting it try to idle on its own.
I dropped it off at the dealer tonight and spoke with the owner who I'm pretty friendly with. I notified him of the problem ahead of time and he contacted DNA to see what he should do for corrective action before jumping into it. I told me that DNA sent him a procedure which he's never seen before that requires him to reset a few things and allow the adaptive mapping to relearn. I've heard of doing this type of thing on modern cars, but never on a bike. I guess the fuel injection is getting as advanced as cars nowadays... Doesn't seem to be a good thing yet.

This is the shit I fear. Mine has been perfect, knock on wood . It ran good with the stock exhaust, and even better after I installed the termi system. I feel for you. I have some quality issues with my bike but I F-ing love it.The fact that the dealers can't get their shit together and fix these problems has to be frustrating. There are a lot of knowledgable people on this site and it's a big network, so hang in there.

Now that would be an interesting procedure to hear about....letting it relearn FI settings....

Yeah I think it's as simple as setting the TPS, balancing the throttle bodies, and setting the air bypass screws to even out the idle, but I'm not the ducati tech either.
The bike seems to run fine despite the stalling and low idle, and I still love the bike; I just don't expect a stock "Ducati" to behave this way considering the names reputation and premium price tag.
It's almost as if Ducati knows that the typical owner expects to mod it anyway so just send it as is and let them buy the aftermarket parts to fix it. I'm ready to buy an ECU before deciding on an exhaust just to cure what should be right from the factory. My modding habits seem to be carrying over from my Monster!
