mmm quality......NOT
i think my brand new HMs may be made in China. The quality of the alloy fasteners on this thing is less than on my <3K Sachs Madass. They are shit.My Aprilia SXV puts this to shame.
Almost ruined the seat and front sprocket allen head bolts- yes I am using an allen key and not a hammer and phillips head screwdriver.
Important ones like engine cases look OK - but I'm going to be fiddling with the lesser bolts a lot more frequently I'd guess.
not impressed- nor am I with the plastic ring adjuster around the Ohlins shock-WTF is that for- saving 2g in weight ?Come to think of it , I think the Sachs is probably better anyway- at least the one on the sxv had high speed damping adjustment.
phew, rant over

I'm with you. I have broken off one bolt and stripped two allen heads. This in less that a month of ownership.

WARNING: both of you should stay the hell away from the battery clamp bolt ... the one that holds the left side rear panel in place.

Battery clamp?

I've had my battery 'cable tied' in place for the last 8 months since the velcro is not worth a nob of goats poop. Saw a battery clamp on another Hyper and also read of a factory update. Asked my dealer, they said. "Just get a 4" O ring and make some clamps.
Spent 2 hours driving around auto shops looking for said O ring. Truck shop was the go but ended up with a 21" bungy made of very stiff black rubber (approx 10mm wide 4mm thick). Made 1 hook shorter to clear battery, the strap goes from left frame over battery and around bottom of fuel tank, back up over battery to right frame rail. THIS IS BULLSHIT.
Also had to fit a door stop beside flapper 'servo' as it nearly rubbed a hole in the back wall of the battery. MORE BULLSHIT.
Would love to fit small gel battery infront of starter motor and cover with bellypan, or remove cat and mount it there. Then re-engineer fuel tank for extra capacity, .................................................. .......... now that's a bloody good idea!

John,
So there's supposed to be a bolt there! Mine never got out of the factory without breaking off! Right now I've got a wire tie holding the rear of my left side panel on!
Seriously, you're basically better off just replacing all the hardware as you tinker with the bike. Stuff like crap hardware irritates the shit out of me. I'd much rather they just charge more for their bikes and not cut corners on stuff like this.
I've come across a company or two that makes complete stainless hardware kits for bikes, but at last check I didn't see a package for the HM. They were quite expensive IMO, but you're paying a lot for someone else to identify and source all those parts. Fortunately I work for a Ferrari dealership that's home to a professional racing team, so identifying and sourcing hardware with a little help from my friends is never a problem.
I was just playing around with my BMW R1200GS, installing a new GPS mount, and I had to remove some pieces. BMW hardware isn't what it used to be, but the difference between it and the junk on the Duc is staggering.
