loosen the plastic screw using a coin (ie. quarter, penny etc...) inside the left panel/plastic and remove tool kit.
btw, why do you want it removed?

I was wondering that too. You need tools to remove the panel though. It looks like the "screws" are made for a dime or penny and the manual says they're 1/4 turn screws.

Gee, I carry extra tools and a puncture repair kit all the time, but then as owner of Pranged Motorcycle Transport ( PMT) who's gonna pick me up if I have a problem, ................. Houston?
My rear windscreen is labeled;
"WHEN YOU'RE HAVING A BAD DAY"
I could take you for a ride

Admittedly the stock toolkit is a piece of crap. However, a few good tools and a flat kit could save your day. Of course, you would have to know how to use those tools and how to plug a tire. If you don't know how, please take the time to ask and learn!

Mine was easy enough to do with my thumbnail (although usually it's trimmed pretty short so maybe not) or with the bike key. I haven't looked too closely yet but figure I'll stash paperwork in there in a ziplock, if need be I'll velcro it to the panel.
There is a bit of room but I'm not sure how much weight it can handle. Haven't taken off the other side yet to see if there is more room there.

After you remove the panel you will find that the tool roll is secured with a rubber band. This band will break and your tools will work their way out along the frame rail. I personally will never carry anything behind that panel!

Isn't that rubber band an o-ring. Haven't seen many that thick break, but I suppose in time it is possible.
Out!

Tool kit? I knew there was one, but can't imagine using it. Usually the tools are barely better than a fisher-price kit. What's in the kit? Reversible screw driver and a pair of slip joint pliers? Any allen keys? Should include the number to call DNA for a tow. Might be worth putting that in with your registration.
