the hypertard only requires one air filter bmc p/n: 452/08

you might also consider purchasing the filter washing kit (cleaning fluid and oil) at same time you purchase the filter, if the merchant sells them. bmc p/n: WA 250-500

if the merchant does not offer the washing kit, you can purchase the k&n air filter cleaning/oiling kit, as it will work fine on the bmc air filter. k&n p/n: 99-5050

a presto,
johnc

not really. here's how i did it:

take the seat off
remove the battery hold down bracket
take the front plastic off.
unbolt the front of the tank from the frame.
prop the tank up just enough to get your hand in
get to the 8mm bolts to remove the airbox lid.
pull the filter out.

reverse to install.

The filter alone does not require a new ECU, but I think with the lid modified you might need to. I believe there were some dyno runs done with this and it was not running lean. Do a search.

Also, be very careful removing and tightening the little bolts on the air box lid. You can strip the brass nuts from the plastic housing in the airbox frame. Then you will not be able to get them out or tighten them up.

Out!

you can install the bmc, k&n, dna air filter and cut the hole in the airbox lid, and not have to install the dp race ecu.

the dyno runs done at ducati when dp was testing the airbox lid and air filter set, indicated a 4HP gain over stock.

this is the easiest/cheapest bang for the buck performance increase you can do for the hypertard.

Where does one get the less restrictive airbox lid? Or can one just open up the stock one?

I remember that the DP airbox lid for the Monsters, looked like the stock cover with the top cut off.

If I took the lid off and just put a specific size hole in it, will that not accomplish the same thing?
