I got my first kill today
I was out on Carmel Valley Road today heading west at about 65 when a squirrel decided nobody loved him and he chose my front wheel as his method of death. I was surprised how little resistance I felt when I him. It was instant death for for the road rodent. Another squirrel tried the same feat on the ride back, but chose life at the last moment.
If you are going to ride Carmel Valley Road be careful of the broken road surfaces caused by all of the heavy fire fighting equipment that has be brought in for the Basin Complex Fire. Just west of the small white bridge (east side) there is a huge hole full of broken asphalt pieces and dirt. There are quite a few fire fighting vehicles on that road as well and they tend to take the corners wide so be sure to keep a tight line around the corners. I would like to say hey to the 1098 Tricolor that almost hit me head on when he cut straight across a blind corner and found me. I always ride the corners like there is a large truck around every blind corner and I think it has saved me from a serious head on almost every ride I have had on this road, especially on the east side where there are no center lines and the road is narrow. I love CVR, but I know it is going to get me some day.

Sounds like you almost hit two squirrels; one just happened to be riding a 1098 Tricolore.
I see shit-for-brains guys like that most every weekend on the rural backroads in my area. The city folk get outside city limits and start thinking they are the only ones out there. At least until they get collected by an equally oblivious tourist coming the other way.
At least the Harley riders who have been bar hopping all day take themselves out by driving straight when the road turns.

Glad you're OK! I could use a couple of squirrel tails. Next time you run one over, get the tail for me.

Unless you tie flies, I am afraid to ask why.
