If you unplugged the servo motor will you get the "engine light" on the dash?

With the stock ECU yes, and also if you just disconnect the cables, although this is less consistant. You have to prevent the motor from going overtravel and setting a code. I made a plate with stops and 6mm pins in the pully where the cable anchors were.

I disconnected the closer cable only and got the engine light with stock ECU. The question was for the slipon ECU. As I understand it, the flapper still is in the system but not actuated, and a open loop, (no o2 sensor)? If unplugged will the light come on?

I dug this old thread up while looking for answers, I have the DP ECU and it appears that the flapper valve can be completely disabled and disconnected from the loom, I have done over 250 km with 8 - 10 start ups over 5 days and get no error engine light.

When I turn the bike on there is no motion in the stepper motor and at 3750 when it is supposed to be activating it still does nothing so I simply disconnected it from the loom to see what would happen and nothing happened at all.

My o2 sensor is removed and disconnected from the loom as well.

So, I am going to remove the motor and cables complete and I am now waiting for my new Zard header set to arrive from Anthony @ Desmo.

Interesting stuff really, cheers all.

Funny that you dug this up. I have the DP slipon ecu but it moves the flapper and occassionally, I get the exvl 13.1 error message. So, maybe I can unplug the valve with no error?!?
