Revenuers Hit Hard!

100 photo radar camers coming to your favorite stretch of road soon! The news station said they will have mobile units on rural stretches of highway. A judge in Chandler says he has had to extend the courts hours to keep up the pace.

http://www.azcentral.com/community/s...ement0719.html

We can't sell sunshine and rooftops anymore, so the Gostopo is gonna put the squeeze on to pay the bills. "Man Hands" Governor Janet Napolitano said a while ago this was a great revenue stream for the state. This state gets more fucked by the minute.

I may have fell victim last Friday night east of Payson on the way to my buddies cabin for 56 in 45 mph zone. This after I spent 3 hours stranded on I-17 waiting for an accident to be cleared. Only to spend another 1.5 hours on 87 on the way home due to another accident.

What's next microchips and traffic snipers? Time to move, I guess!

Out!

how do they prove that you were the one riding the bike by using a photograph? That would get tossed in my local court in a second.

You can use that excuse here but you have to nominate the person who was using the vehicle at the time. Lots of wives have taken points for husbands running low. Don't know any riders who'd do that kind of a favor though.

If you are riding a bike and have a helmet on and they are unable to identify who was on the bike at the time the ticket/pic gets tossed before even going to the issuing jursidiction. If the person is identifiable by the pic then the citation gets forwarded to the issuing jurisdiction to approve and the registered owner of the vehicle is issued the citation and if its not you they ask you to ID the person. They word the request in a way to sound somewhat intimidating but as of yet in Arizona anyway there is no law that forces you to identify the person and they cannot punish the registered owner.

This whole photo radar thing is a huge revenue generating set-up thats for sure and I'll bet Red-Flex is making the biggest killing.

Yet......

With the economy in the tank I would bet governments are going to start looking at ways to generate revenue and this is a low cost to high $$$ system. The photo radar company (RedFlex in this Case) pays all the expense to set up the system and maintain it and then the state just sits back and collects a portion of the fines. If it is successful other states will follow........

If you speed, may as well do it drunk cuz the pix can't make you blow in the tube. It's the money not safety! Yep revenue enhancement.

Aren`t they generating enough money on the tourist renting cars in that state? I swear there were about 7 different taxes added on to the last car I rented at the Pheonix airport. The taxes totalled more then the price of the car per day! I`ve been to a lot of states but Arizona is the only one that`s pulled that sh*t... I do like the rubber hiways though.

You can thank the Arizona Cardinals for that riduculous amount of tax on rental cars and also hotel rooms. That is how they got the voters to sign off on the new stadium by generating a large % of the revenue to build it with the taxes on tourists and visitors.
