GLad tohear I'm not the only one concerned with how hot this bike runs! I live here in Boston and although it's summer, we're not having scorching hot weather (in the 80's). However, I am constantly monitoring the temp while riding and consistanly see it get up into the 230-250 range unless there is absolutely NO traffic and I can keep a steady cruise. I just passed the 700 mile mark and the bike runs great, so maybe this is just how hot it runs. I know my monster didn't run as hot, but it also didn't have a blazing hot cat to help heat soak the engine cases.
I felt a little better after reading the owners manual and saw that the HIGH temp warning is at 300 degrees, but even that seems way too hot. The highest I've seen so far is 270 after getting caught in traffic, and although I knew what the manual said I couldn't stand watching the temp rise and pulled over to let it cool for a while.
Interested in hearing what other are seeing for temps in similar conditions.

Normal for a stock bike with the stock lean map ECU. Fact of life on any new bike today. Ever see a new EFI Harley ? Makes the Hyper seem like its water cooled! On my 1 hr backroad commute @ 45 mph avg mine runs 210 - 230, up to 255 in traffic and at lights. They are also new and typically 4-strokes run a little cooler once they break-in. I suspect when I get some fuel management to richen the bike a bit it will run cooler. Too cool is no good either as moisture is not driven from the engine then.
BTW, I did get rid of the cat, made very little difference in oil temp but the swingarm is not roasted like it was anymore and I notice somewhat less heat at lights. Overall a good thing. I wouldn't sweat it, just go to 20W50W synthetic oil at the first change if it bugs you.

What cat eliminator did you install? I was thinking of doing the same thing, but didn't know if it eliminated the O2 sensor and required an ecu so you wouldn't have a check engine light.

Ducati in heat
I live in the Boston area as well and watch my temp numbers. I picked my bike up 8 days ago and have seen 220 as the highest reading so far; I now have 400 miles on the machine and it's getting smoother all the time.
I will be getting the full Termi 2 into 1 with the re-mapped ECU next week, I will install it and tune for it and have a report in two weeks about the temp.
It is my understanding that this tuning upgrade changes the bike from a closed loop (O2 sensor) to an open loop (no O2 sensor), and eliminates both the cat and the servo exhaust valve, I am expecting to see considerably smaller temp numbers, 180 to 200 would be ideal.

I've got slip ons, no cat and ecu. Ambient temp around 80, my bike will be around 210+ or - in traffic. At the longer traffic lights, I usually shut it off.
GMP, how's the bike run? Seem to have any exhaust leaks or lean surging?

I have the Leo Vince, using the O2 sensor. It fits great, was eaiser to install than swapping the DP airbox cover! No leaks, no popping, no surging, just a slightly louder rumble. I also disabled the flapper. The bike runs fine, and temps are no higher than they were when it was completely stock. I'm sure its lean by performance standards but it exibits no bad symptoms and runs smoother than when new. 650 miles now due for oil change. Another thing I did was gear down to a 14t countershaft. If you guys ride in the city, or commute in some traffic you will like this, much eaiser on the clutch and you can avoid a lot of 2nd to 1st downshifts.

My bike seems to run in 220 range when not in traffic, but at highway speeds with ambient temps in 80's. My communte is also about 45 minutes long so I'm at those speeds maybe longer than you've been in the 8 days of ownership.
Do you even ride into the city? Watch the temp climb quickly while riding through the city and hitting light after light. Hope to see you around some time...

How did you compensate for the adjustment in regards to the speedometer/ odometer?
