uhhh ohh...going back to the dealer.
looks like the factory tried to fix a crack in the gas tank with some epoxy and on my 2nd full tank it's beginning to leak. it's on the left side just under the plastic.
here's a crop of the above pic.

could have been the delaer when they did the PDI, or they should have picked it up during the PDI.

Thats BS right there. I would be making sure my dealer realized how unhappy I was with something like that. There is no excuse to try and sell someone a brand new motorcycle or car or anything for that matter that was broken and then repaired before you picked it up.
My guess is the dealer mucked it up during the inspection and set-up and then tried to fix it. If it came that way from Ducati then all they need to do is call them up and tell them the tank was bad and another tank is on its way at no charge to the dealer. The dealer actually makes money because they get to bill Ducati for replacing it.
I had a very slight blemish and I mean slight blemish on the handlebars which I did not even notice at first. My dealer pointed it out to me and told me that they ordered another handlebar and at my convienece I could stop by without appointment and have it installed. Your dealer should have done the same thing, told you about it and offered to get it fixed on your time frame. Anyway as I said I would make sure you let them no how unhappy you are and see if they will maybe give you a break on the first service or something.
Goodluck

there's more to the saga. i don't have a pic (not at home), but i noticed that where some of the fuel was dripping on the frame, a cable (the one wrapped with the spiral tubing, rubbed through the paint. there's only 225miles on it.

Most likely the gas dripping on the frame caused the paint to weaken and then the rubbing rubbed it off. As I stated before I would be back at the dealer and not very happy about it. Let us know how it turns out.

As the "Menace" says, they should take care of it at your convenience. Had my 12,000klm service Wednesday during which a new front brake master cylinder was fitted under warranty, discs and pads were done 2 weeks ago and we are still chasing an elusive 'pump-up' problem. They also installed a DP slip-on ECU which I had purchased from Infidel in Sydney (to match my Zard slip-ons), and today I have 20kph less top speed, can't pull 2nd gear wheelies and going 30klm less on a tank full. Obviously it is running too rich.
My dealer has offered to put it straight on the Dyno and deal with it, "Just drop in at my earliest convenience". And I didn't even buy the pipes or ECU from them.

hey Ghezzi, how much was the 12000k service? and the install of the ECU? going through brake disks is bad in 12000k's! my old SP2 was fine after 35000k's and about 4 sets of EBC pads

Shit, that doesn't sound good. If the dealer says the ECU is faulty let me know. Does the zard system keep the butterfly valve? I hope they can trim it out on the dyno.
