I have two pairs of oxtars, TCS for road riding and TCX for the dirt. The oxtar ankle protection is brilliant. My riding buddy smacked into a Nissan Xtrail when we were on a motard trip. He was riding an XR650 and the footpeg hit the front wheel of the 4WD. It buggered the rim and tore all the front suspension out of the car which ended up being a write off. The XR650 had a cracked frame, chipped clutch cover and bent foot peg. That was it. He can't remember what actually happened. The front of his boot (oxtar TCX as well)had black rubber all over it from hitting the tyre and the toe guard was caved in a bit. He had 3 fractured toes, that was it. There was scuff marks on the roof of the 4WD from where he had hit it. Very lucky boy.
Like someone said above, dirt boots make it alot harder to select gear and they scratch the bejebus out of the clutch cover etc.
