new HM owner - I can't stop looking at it...
...and thinking, "I actually own this thing? How F'n awesome!" Which is usually followed by a "hey Babe, come check this out" to my wife who replies "I've seen it 5 times and it doesn't look any different."
I guess that will wear off after a while
Then there is riding it - which hasn't been nearly enough since I brought it home last Wed - which is even more amazing.
Anyway, I thought I would say hello and introduce myself and say thanks for all the post I've been browsing.
I do have a question for you all: what kind of gear are you using for street riding (not track)? Helmet, Jacket, pants, gloves, boots, etc.
I know leathers are best, but I live in a hot climate and intend to commute some as well as weekend riding and need to balance practical with safety.
Thanks for the input!

i have the same problem, just looking at it as if it were two lesbians going at it. it really is an awesome bike but even better when its in your own garage. i wear full leathers (dainese mc202 suit) on sundays and i bought a dainese perforated jacket for here n there riding.

I prefer having full leathers when riding. I got a perferated Dainese suit when I got the bike and dang, I never thought that being perferated would make such a difference. It was too cold for me with temps in the 60s.
I feel really uncomfortable without all the gear, but even though it's the safest way to go, it's not practical for going to work for most.

You really think so? If it happens, you might be the first, so let us know.
Whatever happens, enjoy the new bike. Gear wise, I go with helmet, gloves and boots always. When the temps are below 60, Dainese perf jacket with liner. Above 60 the liner comes out. Above 90 and I switch to a Vanson Ventmax 3. For pants I alternate between Draggin Jeans and Olympia vented textile pants. One of these days I might find leather pants I'm comfy in, but it hasn't happened yet.

Congrats on the new bike, I just know your going to love it. Should be perfect for riping through that Atlanta traffic. Did you get yours at the Atlanta Triumph Ducati?

AGV Sport makes some nice perforated leathers. I wear mine all year round in Arizona and they are good from about 50*-95*. Much cooler and you need to add a good layer of Under Armour, much hotter and I switch to a mesh jacket and Icon jeans with the spandex crotch and thigh cutouts that breath nicely. These jeans are cut for riders, heavy duty, and pretty comfy for the price. I have a set of Alpinstars SMX perforated boots and they are great, I never get cold in them down to 40-45* and I can't imagine you would need anything else in warm climates.
I think you can get some good clothing deals at Cycle Gear, Dennis Kirk, or New Enough. They all usually have good close out deals on last years stuff.
Have fun!
Out!

Hello All, thanks for the input - I thought I would post a quick update on my gear decisions:
Jacket - Tourmaster Intake Air 2
Pant - Tourmaster Venture Air 2
I also decided to upgrade my lid to a matte black RF-1000.
I know these aren't track worthy, but they are working well for hot weather urban commuting. I'll get some dianese leather for cooler weather and weekend fun.
Patriot1 - nope, private sale, but I did head there for my first service.

Full leathers all the time. Anything else will shorten your career. Trust me.
