1412 mile Hyper S trip complete!!

How far have you've taken your Hyper on a trip?

July 1st: Bought new at MotoCorsa...more to come on that
July 2nd: 400 mile break in trip with a stop at Bend EuroMoto to get DP
luggage, then up to MotoCorsa to watch the Assen TT
July 3rd: Back to MotoCorsa for first service, but only at 502 miles.
July 4th: Took the day off
July 5th: Carlton OR (folk's house) to Ducati Seattle to get Comfort Seat
They also reset service minder LCD icon, nice place!
Ducati Seattle to Spokane WA. It rained half the day.
July 6th: Spokane WA to Great Falls MT
July 7th: Great Falls MT to Minot AFB.....home

1412 miles in three days, 1972 total miles in six days! Here are the details:

I hopped a train in Minot which was five hours late for a 27 hour trip to Portland OR. I caught a eight dollar cab ride to MotoCorsa to get the Hyper S.

Going to MotoCorsa is almost like going home. Arun runs a top notch establisment. They were kind of secretive about which Hyper was mine, but I wasn't too worried since I had to pick out another helmet and suit since I only brought my boots (I wore 'em) and gloves. I picked up an XD-3 Arai and a Laguna Seca one piece Dainese.

After I signed the paper work for the bike they presented it to me in the 'Red Room' with it running and the extras I got with it already installed. Really really speacial. It really shows how classy that place is. I guess that's why they were beating around the bush about the bike when I first showed up. Very clever.

Other notes about the trip:

Bend Euromoto was pretty cool too, they helped me put that DP luggage on. It fit good to, but I guess it's hit and miss. It's not water proof though. It will also mar the finish of the fairing. It doesn't work to well for tall people with the stock pegs either. I'll fix that with rear sets later. Luggage looks good and holds enough stuff. I plan on getting the Ventura luggage rack when it's available.

Whoever said the stock seat sucks for trips was right. I did 770 miles on it before I made it to Ducati Seattle and it translated every vibration to the taint. The DP comfort seat was so much better. I could have made it, but it would have sucked.

I finally met another member of the Forum in the form of Dave_R_996. He's a great guy and owns Ducati Seattle. They're all really cool up there too. They reset the service minder icon free of charge! Dave was cool to talk to and the store looked great.

Here's my Hyper between a Desmosedici and an MV. That's the third Sedici I saw in 24 hours. I love OREGON. I also saw three 1098Rs

I got a bunch of questions about the luggage. The Desmo owner probably can't say that!

Back at the house after the longest day covered in bugs but safe and sound.

Mods to the bike include a CF hugger, Speedy Moto sliders, Termi half system and the DP luggage. MotoCorsa is really great. I got a lot of help from everybody that works there. Good people.

Your ass was shredded by the 4th
I predicted that shit
Is the comfort seat worth the money?
Hats off to you for making that journey

Edit: your dick looks huge in those black leathers, I would wear them often

I was telling my friends I was warned about the seat, but I sometimes have to learn lessons the hard way.

It's not the leathers if you know what I mean. I had some good times planned for when they got peeled off.

Thumbs up Trip

The train trip sounds the worst of all....

I purchased my hyper ( Now Gone) from Bend Euro motors and rode it two days 1352 miles back to LA

Great people and I purchased one my Desmo's from them , which I just sold and now iam keeping the second one...

I do like the smaller shop's , comparied to the larger Duc shop's

My hat's off to you again for the Train ride....

Enjoy !

Iam doing the same trip again in 2010 with my son and we will pickup two new bikes and purchase him one for his 18th Birthday.

I was wondering how your journey was going. Congrats on completing the trip and on the beautiful new Hyper. I love those roads through Washington and Montana, but not when it's raining or snowing.

Thanks also for the impressions of the DP luggage. I checked the kit out at my dealer and honestly think it looks good; the fit, wear and waterproof issues nag at me though. Since I have no trips planned for this summer, I'll just wait for now.

Enjoy the new ride!

Nice work!

No mention of chain stretching...like a condom since you guys mentioned !
I had to tighten up my chain 2 times before the 600 (800) mile service and it needed it again when I dropped it off. It, along w/ the OEM sprockets, are in the trash....

I may have rode through Ray, I have no idea. Is it on Hwy 2? By that time I was locked in on getting home. Sorry man, if it makes you feel better, I hauled ass through there I think.

No low fuel problems, I would get about 90-100 miles before the light came on and it would take about 2.5 gallons. The one time I checked mileage I averaged 48 MPG. Doing about 80-90 MPH. The speedo is 8% fast according to the manual so I don't think the odometer is super acurate either. So who knows. I did bring two 22oz MSR fuel bottles just in case. They didn't leak on drop. Good idea.

I did have one fuel issue actually, Stanley ND didn't have super, or premium or whatever it's called, the 91-92 octane fuel. They're super was only 89.5, so I put some octane booster in it. It didn't effect it at.

770 miles actually. The comfort (lowering) seat is really comfy, I would recomend it.

My stuff wasn't soaked, it just got a little damp, but I think water got through the zippers. Maybe you could wax em. I didn't really care. I was told if you put packing tape or the like on your fairing it would protect it pretty good from the tank cover. That tank cover is kind of like a puzzle, but once you put it on once you'll never forget.

I think the chain needs to be tightend now, but it was fine for the trip. I brought some chain lube in a mini can and was hitting it up every day. I need to check it out before I ride it again.

I rode my 748 today....wow, what a weird feeling after 2k on the Hyper. I don't know if I'll be able to ride it too often now, it felt so..different...
