Rear Brake Issues????
Tell me Im not the only one that has to hit the rear brake pedal inorder for it to work. I am very impressed by the front, but the rear is very weak. Is it just me?

The Hyper has plenty of rear brake (unlike most other Ducati models). You're not the only one to have a weak brake, but it's pretty rare.
Do a search and you can find some other threads about this issue. As I recall, the best solution is to do a complete bleed of the rear system, including removing the caliper and turning it upside down as you bleed it...

Your not alone 93Octane my rear brake is pretty poor as well - Just as well I dont use it very much! I may try and give it a bleed through and see if it improves it.

When I picked mine up, I almost turned around and brought it back it felt so bad. NOT like it needed bleeding at all, but like the rotor was not cleaned and/or the pads glazed. The pedal was quite firm. I cleaned the rotor/pads with contact cleaner and after a few more miles things were fine. After doing this I think the parts were fine, and the pads are likely just a harder compound that need more bed-in time.

Yeah it is real soft. The only way to bleed it correctly is to pull the rear caliper raise it above the rear master cylinder and bleed it while held in this position. All the air bubbles will now go out and you will have instant rear brakes. They bite hard when bled properly. I posted some details in previous threads.
Nobody uses there rear brake much, bit it is good to know it is there when you do need it. If you seen the Lincoln (read as massive boat) skate through a red light today like I did, you will be glad all your brakes work.
Out!

the only time i use the rear brake is a. in the pissing wet slowing down. b. when doing small roundabout is 1st gear to limit back wheel power c. skids
if i want to lock the back wheel i stamp on it, but to slow down it actually is the best rear i've ever used. but as a 'stopping' device its pretty useless but thats not what its made for.
I think you prob need to move the pedal up a bit as stock they are a long way down and most your toe is just taking up slack in the system before you get any pressure to the pads.

Mine start working within about 1/2" of being depressed and by 1-1/2" are very firm. No need to adjust the pedal, just bleed the system correclty.
If you do a search on the net, there are a number of motorcycle websites that discuss bleeding brakes. In fact, I beleive I have seen videos as well. It is not real hard, but can be a mess. It is helpful to have an extra set of hands for the rears.
You may as well add some nice Rizoma reservoirs at the same time.
Out!
