MPG- Fuel Range
I've read several threads on this topic, but wanted to simplify the Title.
I ran out of gas just a few feet before a 5 mile bridge this weekend. Granted, I am still "breaking it in" (400 miles), but trip odometer read 98.0 when it went off. That's 30.6 MPG. (Bike is bone stock.)
Tell me it gets better.

I have filled up anywhere from 110-130 miles and it always takes about 2.5 - 2.75 gallons each time. Thus it gets low to high 40s which is what I would expect a moderately tuned 1100cc twin in a 400 lbs bike would get.

CTarna,
I'm in NJ too, got mine recently and have around 450 miles on it. Stock except for disabled flapper valve. I get anywhere from 38 to 48 MPG depending on riding style. For breakin I run the revs up and down using a gear lower than norm as to not lug the motor and also to use a lot of compression braking which is good for ring seating. Even with this inefficient style I get 38 to 40 MPG.

Mine has under 400 miles and I'm getting 110 miles until the light goes on.

Wow, mine is the low man here. Filled it up and rode 98 miles and stalled on road empty. 3.268 gallons to fill, so I was done.
Does the average speed of 60 have something to do with it?

The worst I've seen on our California formula fuel - which tends to yield poor mileage - is 32mpg. That was bucking a ~30 mph headwind with speeds averaging between 70 and 80 mph indicated (no, it was not fun). The best was nearly 45, short shifting on rural roads with speeds between 30 and 60 mph. Not certain why a 60 mph average speed would give you mileage that bad. That seems odd.

mine improved a bit as it broke in. That is until I put the 2-1 termi and ECU. I found that the gas that has some ethanol in it gives me a few less miles per tank. I really don't mind stopping, so that isn't an issue with me.

I just geared mine down to 14/42 yesterday, we'll see what that does. I suspect it may even improve, as I can now run a higher gear overall. On the NJ highways 6th was almost usless and 5th too low at times. Much better now.

check to make sure that your trip meter and odometer agree. There's a software patch that fixes a tripmeter that reads about 60% of the actual miles travelled. The Odometer is correct....
I'm getting mine fixed next week under warranty. I also thought that I was getting 25mpg, but using the odo, it's more like 43.
Was your low fuel light on?
