Break-in recommendations
Well, if all goes well, We're adding a Hypermotard (base) to our fleet today. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on the Break-in? Is the below 6000 rpm for the first 600 miles, varing the rpm as much as possible, the best way to do it? Thanks in advance.

I've been told by my mechanic to ride them hard but never hold the throttle at a steady RPM for any length of time. When I break in my Duc's I ride all six gears at varying RPM's including redline.
Yours may say different.

That's generally been my philosophy as well.

This question will get as many answers as asking what kind of oil should I use. Vary the RPM's and you will be fine.

I was worried that the dealer would be able to use the data aquisition to spy on what RPM's I used during the first 600 miles. I my just be paranoid, but I don't like big brothers steamy breath over my shoulder. Does anyone have any info or opinions on this?
I held it wide open as much as possible up to 6k rpm. I didn't take it easy but I also didn't give anyone a reason to yank my warranty.

I go WFO (well, almost), but also short-shift it until 500-600 miles. Never constant RPM for any length of time. I also change oil at 100, 500 and 1000 miles just to get all the crude out. Let the bike warm up, but avoid excessive idling. Finally, I prefer not to use full synthetic oil during break in.

If its not too late?
Go to www.mototuneusa.com , maybe controversial but some very valid points. Well worth the read. Goodluck.
Ps. I did a track day at 2 days and 120klm old. Did my best to keep it to half throttle and 6000rpm, even did whole laps in top gear. At 11500klm Hyper is oil tight, smooth, quiet accept for the clutch at idle.
