Hyper and trip = excitment and ???s
Next Tuesday I should be picking up my new Hyper S.
Check this out though, I'm taking a train from North Dakota where I live to Portland to buy it. I'm going to kick it with family/friends for a couple days, then hit the road for a 1400mile trip back. I'm getting the bike broke in and the 1st service done there in Oregon, so no worries about that. It's also going to have Termi slip ons.
I'm going to get the Ventura pack system for the trip. Looks good, can get real small, and I'll probably get the Sport Pack for everyday riding. Any body using it yet?
Does anybody have any advice for a long trip like this? I'm not taking very much with me...essentials and rain gear. Do the Corsa IIIs work ok in the rain?
The folks on this side of the forum are pretty chill. I'm looking foward to being part of the group. Thanks.

When you finally have a free minute, please post pictures and impressions of the Ventura system. It's one of the few I'm looking at too.
As for the actual trip, if I were you and had plenty of time, I'd avoid the interstates as much as possible and keep to smaller highways and byways. I've driven many of Montana and Idaho backroads and they're pretty great. I'd also take advantage of the frequent gas stops to stretch. Seems like everyone has their own opinions about the seat, hopefully it fits you well. You might want to also think about mounting a decent sized tank bag because it'll help with the wind blast.
It seems like quite a few folks have done some touring on their Hypers so I'm sure other, more helpful responses will follow. Congrats and enjoy!

Do you think the Cortech will help with wind blast? I've been thinking either that one or the DP. Not sure though.

I've been in the military for a while, my ass can take it! Yeah, Motocorsa, I like that place, I think I'm getting a good deal. I bought my 748 there in 2004 too.
The best part about Oregon is they're tons of places to ride, so I should be good to get the break in mileage done before I roll out.

Thats a long haul but can be done. Make sure you plan your gas stops because 100-110 is about as good as you will get for mileage. Did you get the comfort seat or are you going with the stocker? Superslabbing will suck so try to find as many backroads as you can. You would need a very large tank bag to do any good for wind protection.

No comfort seat yet, thinking about it though. Does your tank bag help with the wind at all?
Freeways.......they do suck, I'm thinking I may get off of it in Montana.
The gas stops are the only thing I'm worried about, so I figured in certain areas I'll be stopping more often than 100 miles. F*ck it though, this trip is going to be awesome. This Hyper is going to be my go everywhere do everything bike that my 748 can never think of being. I rode my RS250 today for the last time to drop it off at the shippers for the new owner and it was pretty comfortable (compared), I'm going to miss it, but I don't regret it. I'm about to blow up inside waiting to get out of here to get this new bike.

the right gear
Way to go on the New Hyper. I recomend making sure you have good, water proof gear. Especially pants. I have a pair of alpinestar Drystar pants and they are awsome. Gets rid of most of the vibrations and have a liner so you can ride in without pants on which makes it even more comfotable. Good pair of warm gloves is also very important. I rode 5000k's in 6 days 2 weeks ago and got rained on most of the time but was all good because of my gear. If the light comes on ride on about 3500RPM and you can still get about 80-100k's out of the reserve. Not sure how this will be with the termi's you have on it. Good luck

Thanks for the reserve fuel info!
I'm going to wear a full set of leathers with some slip on rain gear if it's required. I never rode rain gear before while getting caught in storms, but it looks like I'll have a place to stash it now.
