Completed 600 mile checkup
Apologies for YALP (Yet Another Long Post)
Oh I have so much to learn about this Desmo engine. But more on that later.
Picked up the bike after getting her checked out and a transfusion of her blood. Upon release from the clinic the Duc Doc said to wind her up and let her rip. I had been keeping her under 6K RPM up until the visit to the Doc.
After letting her warm up I decided to open her up. I'm speechless. Seriously, I will never know how to describe the feeling or the sound. I have a Yamaha WR450 that sounds awesome. But this Hyper is amazing. I guess the best way to describe the sound is this. My WR, with DR D pipe, sounds like an awesome band. My Hyper, with Termi slip-ons, DP header/pipe, sounds like a world class symphony. (Maybe Metallica S&M with the San Fran Symphony is a better description.)
As I'm cruising home, in the dark, an R6 with really loud pipes pulls along side and decides to burp his throttle a few times. I did the same and for some reason he immediately dove into the left turn lane. I guess it was just coincidence. If he only knew, how new I am to this bike--and the fact I don't really like riding at night--he would have stayed for the game. My bark was bigger than my bite--but sometimes that all you need!
I know this is not an original thought but this is one awesome ride. If it had more travel and different tires I wouldn't mind trying a table top or double. It's that much fun!!
Ok, back to me learning about the Desmo. Feel free to laugh your rear off or call me a complete idiot. This is embarrassing. As I'm cleaning the bike I decide to check the coil wires and plug wires to make sure they are nice and snug. Only then did I realize that this two cylinder beast with two valves per cylinder had FOUR spark plugs. I have so far to go before earning my Hyper Jedi Master certification! The only thing I have left to save face with is the fact I'm not worried about tearing into this artistic mechanical wonder--when the time comes. Never met a case I wasn't afraid to split; although this fuel injection on a bike is new territory for me.
I can't wait to wake up and ride again tomorrow. And, probably learn a little more about the Duc and its Desmo wonder.
For all you experienced teachers, across the globe and in this forum, thank you. Please keep sharing your wisdom and knowledge.

I agree with you for the most part. I have the slip-ons with the DP header as well. The header does absolutely nothing for the power and is a waste of $1200 IMO. The dyno shows no increase with this header even though it removes the Cat. This bike needs a bit more power for my taste. We'll see how she is once I gear it down with 520 conversion, add DP cams and DP flywheel.
That may be the magic combo

park,
Was there no increase in performance at all with the slip-ons and header. Thats strange because with the full race exhaust there is a noticeable difference.

Motard
I gained 6 HP and 4 ft lbs from over stock with the system. Another guy with just slip-ons was making 1 more HP on the same dyno. After speaking with the Tech I came to the conclusion that next time I'll go Leo Vince for the Cat. I like the dual rear exit design, but with the manifolds the total is about $3,000. I'm just waiting on a Supersprox 44 T rear then I'll do 520 conversion, DP flywheel and DP cams. I'm hoping gearing it down and light flywheel with the cams will keep it in the sweet spot and be perfect.
Infidel on the board has this same setup and seems to like it a lot

I didn't do the rear sprocket conversion but I have the 14 tooth front DP sprocket along with the full race pipe and it also made a noticeable difference especially in 2nd gear. It is more user friendly now and I can stay in 2nd when before I was shifting into 1st. I'm sure the rear sprocket set up will be sweet.

I think it'll be sweet as well. I will post up Dyno charts and ride report once it's done.

I didn't mention that....
Park,
I guess I should have also given you the other details re: 600 mile check up. I'll leave out the non-engine mods.
BMC filter, DP airbox lid, Pistal hi-comp pistons, DP race cams, DP race ECU (cam version), and ported heads by BCM. Plus the items mentioned at the start of the thread
I wanted to have it put on the dyno while I was there but they told me I have to schedule it two weeks in advance. Once I do I will report to all.
By the way, the bike is far more capable than the owner. I bought it used from a very capable Duc owner on this site. He did all the work for me then sold it with 250 miles on it. Let's say it was a lucky day for me b/c he lived about 10 minutes from me!
At risk of receiving a "Dude. Chill." This bike is awesome!
