That So-Called Glove Compartment
Okay, a fairly complete search of this forum's archive resulted in a couple of lonely posts regarding the Hyper's dirty little secret; the glove compartment. No threads, just a couple of jabs in threads about helmet storage and helmet locks.
So, does anyone actually use the glove compartment? If so, have you found a trick to open the damned thing before exhausting your entire vocabulary of filthy little words? Twice. If so, I'd like to hear it. Even with my relatively small hands, it's pretty tough to get a good hold on one or two of the screws.
It's obvious that it's not waterproof but that's something I can deal with. Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

If you're talking about the left front side shroud, I don't use mine much for storage and I've ditched the useless toolkit. The cover does come off pretty easy if you use a coin, like a penny to unfasten the screws.

my rubber band must've broke too, because my kit was just resting in there. It now resides in the tank bag along with other stuff that should go in a glove compartment.

When I read about the "glove compartment" in the owners manual, I thought cool, a place to stash stuff. I was going to drill a hole in a coin and attach to my key ring. But when I first actually opened and had a look, I pretty much thought I really wouldn't use it that much. I never got around to drilling the coin either. Oh well.

You only need to turn the black plastic thingys 90 degrees but be carefull! The tower like thing that they go into broke off on mine so I fixed it with hot glue. Now I'm afraid to take it off to see if it worked.

I was seaching other posts earlier about motor mapping devices, and found a good use for the glove compartment. dukepilot installed his RB3 mapping module in place of the tool kit. Good idea, me thinks.

I only take mine off when my nitrous bottle needs a recharge

Just got back from DMV.Replacing my registration papers which I had neatly stashed in a ziplock under the "toolkit".Figured when I inevitably get pulled over, the officer might get tired of waiting for me to disassemble the bike to get to my papers. Unfortunately, when I went to investigate the clanking noise in the front of the bike, the O-rings which hold the "toolkit" were gone along with my papers.I stole some of my girlfriends hair bungees to hold the kit for now since they are less likely to completely snap like the O-rings. We have to come up with something better.
