CAT removal question, slip-on termis
I have an 07 Hyper S. 2-1-2 Termi slip-ons with ECU. I have spoken to a couple of Ducati dealers but I seem to be getting mixed answers. I just want to check that I have everything correct.
So basically as it stands the bike will run rough if I remove the CAT. So my question is by getting the Termignoni Manifold Unit For Homologated Silencer Kit (See pic below) and the de-cat pipe should the hyper be fine ? I gather the ECU that come with this kit will probably be fine as it takes into consideration some valve that shuts at 3000rpm (didn't even know that existed !! )
All sounds a bit much cost wise and mission wise. I can see why people get the 2-1 race pipe cos that just works as is !... I got the bike with the slip-ons already on though.
Any help, much appreciated... thinking of something like the Leo Vince cat removal pipe with that Ducati manifold kit... well something like that ! ;D

Options
Get a LV Cat
Run the ECU that you have now with your dual termi's
Remove the Midpipe , Remove the flapper valve , Weld a round plug where the rod was ( Muffler Shop )
Leave the flapper valve motor installed and plugged in , Remove the cables
The System you show above includes a new ECU that is flashed to eliminate the servo for the Flapper valve , Lot's of MooLa $ from Ducati
I you wish for a better finish , Have the complete system Ceramic coated black , I did this and it looks great

I think you were given bad information about your bike running poorly if you remove you cat. I removed the guts of the cat and welded it back up and opened the stock exhaust, and I disconnected the exhaust flapper valve and it ran fine, though it did rumble a bit when engine braking. I now have the cam ecu and an open airbox lid and BMC air filter. You do need to adjust you idle screws and maybe need to adjust the fuel trim.

Thanks for that !!... So just to confirm. You are saying the ECU will be fine with the cat revmoved but the flapper valve thing will still cause issues. So basically I could just put in a LV Cat and leave the bike as is but that would be stupid because of the valve I gather ?
Not sure about all the welding and stuff though !

Sell the dual termis and get a LV cat eliminator and LV slip-ons. Problem solved!

So I've read every thread I can find on exhausts and I think these are my main two options (not that interested in the single termi):
LV cat elim, twin termi (with airbox lid and ecu), flapper mod on midpipe. around $2000 plus the weld and the tuning.
LV cat elim, LV cans (comes with midpipe? the one that hits the fender right?), drill hole in airbox. around $1000 plus you have to find an ECU somehow (cams ecu - 18% more fuel usage?) and get tuning.
Does this sound right? Am I missing something?
Should I just skip the cat eliminator? A few hp will be nice but $250 for 1 hp...
Where is the cheapest place to get the twin termi?
I plan to try and do the work myself except the welding and tuning.
If you also sell the parts please mention it so I can just get them from you.
Thanks!

i was thinking about getting the LV cat elim and a new upper pipe to go to the cans, who makes a pipe with no flapper stuff to go from cat / elim to slip ons?

If you already have slip ons your happy with, and really want to get rid of the flapper valve, I'd check out the Zard setup (headers, collector, midpipe) for around $500 US. Looks great. The flapper does no harm in the open position. To save a few $ the LV cat eliminator works fine and you could modify the stock midpipe to remove the valve as GEE-BEE describes if you want.

Got a picture of your system? I'd love to see it!

Doesn't the flapper increase the low end torque... I was talking to some guys at a track day and they said the flapper keeps the low end torque in place..
