difference between the std and the "s"
seriously considering biting the bullet and selling the ss for a new hyper, but can anyone tell me the difference between the std and the "s" model, is it just carbon? or what ?? i know that the s is offered in black and the std is not but besides cosmetics are there any other advantages?
thanks!

Carbon fiber, lighter forged wheels, ohlins shock. pirelli tires. I bought the standard but if doing it over again I would get the S if a deal could be made.

and don't forget the monoblock front calipers. these are either a + or a -, depending on your point of view.
me, i opted for the base model, and spent the saved $2500 on aftermarket upgrades (slip ons, ecu and slipper clutch) and pocketed the $1000 for future tire and oil/filter needs.
either model you go with is a great bike ... have fun and enjoy riding/owning the coolest bike on the market.
a presto,
johnc

I have an 'S' model, chosen firstly for the wheels. Not so much for the wank factor being 1kg lighter and forged, but more for the styling as I had my eye on a similar set of wheels for a project that didn't happen.
Secondly, the Ohlins. But somebody else said they were buying a std model and spend the savings on a top shelf Ohlins. High/low speed comp/rebound. Hydraulic pre-load. Adj ride height etc.
Thirdly, brakes. I wanted a bike with the best, so I wouldn't be wanting for more.
Forthly, the carbon. Never had a "BLING" special before.
So I bought a Shift-Tech carbon hugger which replaces my std carbon chainguard.
Just ordered Zard Top guns, and now I will have to remove the std carbon side panels. (new carbon side panels supplied with pipes)
Can you see where I'm going. Plan ahead. I was going to stay stock except for DP Tank Cover and 3 bags. Then there was a ....... hugger ....... custom seat .......Zard slip-ons & DP ECU ........ Axo seat bag .......
Either way you'll love it. Just remember, the bike is the cheap part. Especially when compared to divorce

S Advantages? Depending on your riding level, track day work or resale value-maybe! The S has lighter, forged wheels, TIN coated forks, carbon fiber galore (although some of the c/f pieces are not very attractive), Ohlins shock, rear ride height adjuster, DDA capability, I think, and 1098 front brake calipers.
I am a track day junkie, so I decided that the extra cash was worth the S brakes and wheels. I also used the S to try and limit my modding obsession. I attempted to make my RC51 into a S model anyway (Ohlins fork and shock, BST wheels, Brembo brake and clutch master cylinders; you get the picture). I figured this time it would be easier to purchase everything on my new bike up front and with a warranty!
Some will say that the S models are for the poseurs. To each, his own!

Try a search or look through the various posts. This topic has been discussed numerous times.
They are both great bikes...my end recommendation is to go with the bike that suits you since the rider is the biggest difference when it comes to the S VS standard.

I chose the standard because I wanted to chose my own mods and easily have the difference invested into my standard. The standard rear shock works great and so does the fork and brakes. I can't see me ever needing the monoblocs or upgraded suspension for the street. Mind you, my previous bike had top shelf stuff and so does my track bike.
I almost chose the S because of the color. Every bit of gear that I own is blue. I just don't care if I look funny anymore. The brakes just seem a bit overboard on a 400 lb. motorcycle and the suspension isn't really necessary for street riding.

Huh, no side panels are provided with the Zards other than carbon filler pieces for the OEM panels?
Anyway, love my S. Both models are practically the same when riding the bike but you sure appreciate the extra money spent when you step back to look at the carbon fiber, Brembos and Ohlins.
