Anyone using Pilot Roads on their HM?

I did a search on tire replacement recommendations and only found a couple of threads. Summarizing, folks were pleased with the OEM Bridgestones and Pirellis and also had good things to say about Pilot Powers, which I have a bit of experience with. It also seemed like there were strong opinions both ways on Dunlop Qualifiers. I think I saw one mention of Pilot Roads.

Anyone running the dual compound Roads on their Hyper? I really like the grip and feedback of the Pirellis but the Roads look like a good compromise once I have to replace both tires. Just don't want to give up too much feedback for improved mileage.

I was wondering the same thing. I like the feel and stick of the Pirellis but burning up a rear tire every 2000 miles does get expensive. I live in Iowa so I have to ride anywhere to get to a curvy place. My tires always flat spot cause I get bored on the straights and have nothing to do but wheelie.

I've read that alot of guys that run the bigger sport touring bikes really like them. But they have alot more weight on the contact patch than we do.

Standard on the 'S' are Pireilli Diablo Supa Corsa III's, the rear was half done at 2000k. I replaced it with a Pilot Power for a long trip which didn't happen, eventually got 6000k out of that with no problems or complaints. Plenty of corners close by so it wore out with an even profile, still had another 1000k left but had a big weekend coming up.

At 8200k (odo) I replaced both tyres (front Pirelli was shagged on the sides) with Michelin Pilot Powers 2CT. Apparently the front has a different profile to the standard Pirelli and pilot power Road. Man this thing now stumbles for the gutter like a drunk. Turn in is fast, precise etc Beeaaauuutifull! Done more than 2500k on these, half in atrocious conditions and the grip level in the wet was amazing.

Group weekend ride, I had only owned skinny tired bikes before. The blokes in front were hooking in to the corners, I thought they hadn't realized the road was wet, but they weren't slippin' or sliddin' so I stayed with 'em. Ego, is not a dirty word!

I run the Michelin PP 2CTs and love them. Not likely that your going to get more than 2500 out of the rear and twice that out of the front.

I have a buddy that has been using the Pilot Roads on his FZ1 and likes them alot. He just did a long ride from Phoenix to Salt Lake City for the superbike races and clocked quite a few miles and says they are performing and handling real well.

Another buddy likes them as well, but he runs any tire that he gets a deal on and makes them work just the same. He is a really good rider.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them based on what I have read and heard. I am sure you will like them, if not you can sell them easily as they are popular with a lot of riders.

Out!

I have 1200 miles on the stock rear bridgestone and it is about shagged in the middle. I corner plenty hard but I also have to do some touring to get to the corners. That is the quickest I ever worked my way through a tire. I might burn the rest off on the track bike. I think I might run something a bit more durable. The corsa III's lasted pretty long on my track bike and my last street bike.

My bike came to me pp 2ct's and 3500 miles on the odo. I agree about the quick steering but do not think the HM needs any help in this department.

I'm thinking Diablo Rosso for the next time round. That should be within the next month or so. The front seems to be more rounded/less pointy in profile. A little more weighted steering should result.

Anyone mount these yet?

are the rosso's multi-compound? 3500 is pretty good for a supersport tire. I'd be happy with that. Especially compared with my 1200 or so miles that I got out of the standard model's bridgestones.

To clarify, my bike was new in March. I bought it from the first owner for a smokin' deal. He had replaced the original tires with the pp 2ct's. They had some mileage on them when I bought it. I never thought to ask how many the originals lasted.

The Roso's are reviewed here http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Articl...ArticleID=5718 here http://www.motorcycle.com/products/p...vil-70642.html[/] and here http://www.superbike.co.uk/news/Pire...ws_180894.html

A friend has tried them and confirms the good stuff mentioned and disputes the lack of feel. He is a fast and fluid rider that works the front end hard. His bike is a CBR 600RR with ohlins front and rear.

That is not exactly a Hyper. The feel may be different on our bikes. I was wondering if anyone had been the guinea pig or if I am to be it.

Here is another I found http://www.motorcycledaily.com/18dec...ablo_rosso.htm
