Slow Cooling Fast Warming Engine
Ok, I might be extremely cautious, but after noticing my cylinder head leaking oil I have been watching the engine. I do not think this is normal, but if it is then excuse this post, if this isn't normal please speak up.
I have been waiting this evening to check the oil lever to see if I just have too much oil and that is causing the overflow/leak in the cylinder, but my engine does not seem to want cool. I rode home from work, roughly 15 miles or 20 min. I got home @ 7.30-45 and just went out to check the engine and it is still extremely hot. It is only 78 degree and breezy. I feel this is not normal. When I started the bike this morning to warm it up, it doesn't take but 2-2.5 minutes and its already up to 104 degree, and its about 70-72 degree's. What could cause this ? Why would my engine get warmed up so quickly or stay hot after sitting over an hour of sitting ?

Running temp
More importatntly, what temp range is your bike running at. It does appear that your bike warms up rather quickly / cool down slowly. Keep an eye on the oil temp while riding, this will give a more accurate account of a bike "running HOT".
My usuall temp range is 90-110C (194-230F) with av ambient temp of 30C (86F).

It gets into the 200F quickly, with the ride to work this morning, it got up to 256 F and that is in mostly nice flowing traffic at the speed of 30-45 mph and 3-4 stop lights, the temp outside around 70-72 F and that is within 15-20 minutes.
Maybe this is perfectly normal, but to me it seems quite quick to get so hot. Correct me if I am wrong.

do you have slip-ons added?
I put termi's on and took out the baffles and am still running stock ECU, the thing runs so lean it hit 118c yesterday. today i stuck the baffles back in and sat still 105c and its warmer today.
i noticed it raising like crazy when sat at lights yesterday, today no worries. I also seem to ride faster and harder with the baffles in because its not so loud!

In my experience, with the kind of ambient temps you're talking about, it takes my bike about 20 minutes (in mixed riding conditions) to reach 200 F. This was true of my GT as well. The DS engine is normally considered cold-blooded, taking fairly long to warm up. And, upon switching off, it usually does cool off fairly quickly although I've never timed that. Have you checked the actual oil temp during the cool down?
It's hard to give a definitive answer to your question because we don't know all the conditions you're dealing with, but on the surface, I'd have to say what you're describing is out of the ordinary.
