Waiting for 848 HM
I'm waiting for Ducati to put an 848 engine in the HM and then I'll be interested.

F*ck that, the main reason I'm trying to get a Hyper is the motor it has. Want a superbike motor, get a super bike.

That statement tells me that you missed the point of the hyper and the style of riding.
Why would you want an 848 motor which is designed for high speed turns/top end in a hypermotard which is designed for tight course riding?
LOL...

That was one of the big draw cards for me as well. The DS1100 has good reliability, long service intervals simplicity, bucket loads of torque and and is pretty tuneable. Also look how ugly the buell went when they added a water system.

A revvy top end motor is also alot of fun in a motard. Look at how well Aprilia is doing in top class motard racing. Admittedly they are not translating that sucees to the road as well. But those bikes are very highly stressed. The 848 motor and the hyper frame are both pretty heavy, so they would not be as quick through tighter stuff than a SXV.

The SXV 550 power sounds incredible. I was very close to buying one but the track record for reliability was not great. I have dirtbikes and I understand maintenance but all the stuff - starters, oil in airbox, bad case sealent- happening was the only reason. Even the Shiver is having issues. I wish Aprilia would step it up a little so I could buy one of their bikes

The worst thing about owning a SXV is that you can't even check the shims with the engine in the frame. It is very maintenance intensive. Fun to ride though
