DP Cams Power Delivery Question.
Hi Guys,
This question is directed at those who have fitted the DP Cams with the supplied with cams ECU. Even better for your advice if like me you have also fitted Leo Vince exhausts and Cat eliminator and done air box mods. Just had the cams fitted by dealer at first service, now with over 1,000 miles on am able to rev harder. What I am finding is the bike feels real quick up to about 6-6500 revs, pulls clean no hesitation and runs pretty well at low revs. But above 6,500 revs, the bike seems to pick up slower than I would have expected? It will rev through to rev limiter just doesn't seem to pick up as quick at the higher revs. Dealer reset TPS and CO, they said they dialled in the cams using Ducati tool? but were a bit vague about dial in settings. I gave them the approx settings you guys recommended but I suspect that they have just used standard settings? I thought that the bike with these cams would have pulled really hard at higher revs? Or could it be the fuelling that needs sorted with a Power Commander? I will try to get bike on Dyno at first opportunity, but if anyone can shed some light on this please advise, or is this just normal?
Regards,
Duncan.

I haven't installed the cams yet but the first thing I would do is to get some clarity on is the exact cam timing your dealer used. They should be able to tell you this with absolute certainty. As far as I know Ducati did not specify the optimum cam timing for the DP cams but 108 degrees intake center lobe seems to be the preferred spec.
Second, a little fine tuning of the fuel map with a PC3 or Rapidbike 3 probably wouldn't hurt either. It should run OK with just the DP ECU but you could probably pick up a bit more power with a good fuel map for each cylinder.

From the dyno's I have seen posted on here it appears there is somewhat of a flat spot about midway in the torque curve when people have fitted the cams. That sounds like what you are experiencing. My best guess is you will need a PCIII or something similiar to get the most out of the cams so it can be tuned properly, without that I think you will lose some torque for top end HP. Goodluck in getting it sorted....

DP Cams Advice
O.K Guys, Thanks for the advice, I know I must get a dyno run done asap to check fuelling. I will try to find out from dealer what cam timing is set at.
I'll keep you informed on how things turn out. If anyone else has any ideas please feel free to offer them.
Regards,
Duncan.

It sounds to me like your dealer did not actually degree in the cams, but just installed them and did a TPS reset. You degree in cams with a degree wheel and a piston stop, not a "Ducati tool". If they cannot tell you specifically what they set the cams to, that's another indication they did not degree them.
Chris Kelley has a good writeup of how to degree cams on his ducatitech website:
