Saturday, June 8th - ride to Quincy, CA
The SoCal guys have a ride posted up, so here's one for the NorCal guys. We're riding to Quincy, way up on Plumas County. We're going to slab a ways, ride some great twisties, and have a wonderful meal, then reverse the process.
NorCal Twisties
The link is to the BayAreaRidersForum. I live in the East Bay. We are meeting at the Starbucks in Cordelia, and departing at 7:30 AM Next stop is the *$'s in Marysville at 270 9th street, then the Chevron in Oroville. The times are in the linked post. We'll head up to Quincy from there. The way back is TBD, but it could include something like LaPorte Road, or Gold Lakes Hwy to Hwy 49 to??? before slabbing back home.
Bay Area folks can join us at Cordelia. Sac are folks can intercept us Marysville. Any north valley riders can intercept in Oroville.
Cheers,
Kurt

The guys in NoCal not only get their own ride... they also get their own calender. Cool! I think I should move

I was out of town - visiting family near Quincy. All I saw was Harleys.

Yes, it happened. There were 5 of us total. A pretty mixed bag of bikes. It ran from a Goldwing, to an R1150GS, a Concours 14, a GSXR600, and my Hyper.
There is no really elegant way to ride from the East Bay to Oroville, so we pounded across 80 to Sacramento, then north on I-5, Hwys 99 & 70 until we got to Hwy 162. The wind was fierce that morning, and my mileage suffered. I only got 32 mpg on the first tank.
Once at Oroville the fun began in earnest. The newest part of 162 is truly spectacular, and we were only occasionally held up.
We saw Harleys too, but we also saw lots of sportbikes. I had never seen so many bikes on 162, but it still was not too bad.
There is more information in this link to the Bay Area Riders Forum. BARF
This was a great ride. It was 435 miles from my door and back. Lots of twisties and lots of fun, and no performance awards.
As the valley heats up in mid-summer, I probably won't be as willing to slog across it to get to these roads. Maybe in September or October. In July I will probably organize a long day's ride (400 miles m/l) of goat trails between the Bay Area and Fort Bragg.
Cheers,
Kurt

Kurt, give a bit more notice and a few more might be able to make it. the new pavement in the Bald Rock area has brought out the bikes to this stretch of road. there is an 848 in town in addition to my multi. might be interested in meeting up for your coast ride also.

I will try to give more notice in the future. It was a sort of impulse decision to do that ride to Quincy.
The coast ride will be in July. It would be a bit of a slog for you to get to the ride start in time. We'll probably do another ~400 mile day, so an early start will be in order. The route is not set, but I'm leaning towards starting in Cordelia - not exactly on the coast - working up past Berryessa towards Clear Lake, or at least Angwin, then cutting over to the coast and zig-zagging towards Mendocino - if we get that far north. Then zig-zagging back, but staying towards the coast the whole way, at least as far south as Marshall-Petaluma, maybe further. The focus will be on avoiding traffic and LEO's, so lots of goat trails will be on the menu.
