Rev Limiter settings?
I was doing a long third gear wheelie today on flat ground and let the front end drift a little low. I accelerated to bring it back up and was moving pretty fast. I was careful not to upshift at these high rpms (read loop it) when all of the sudden what felt like a rev limiter kicked in and sent my front end back to the ground. I didnt see my tach but I swear I wasnt turning more than 9k.
I own the standard HM with a Full Zard exhaust, Airbox mod and DP ECU.
Is this typical?

yes, next time upshift, it won't loop, the powerband is very linear on these

Christ, you had to be going 85 mph+ at that point. If it were me, I would back off and start the wheelie over again. When I have been pulling them in third gear I am somewhere between 70-80 mph and when I get above 80 mph I back off. Usually, I can feather the throttle and keep here going in that range and not hit the limiter.
Out!

don't mean to high jack the thread, but, did you guys see superbikers on speed last night. jason britton was doing a photo shoot on a hyper and was riding a wheelie across a bridge, after a quarter mile the airbox was completley full of oil. it looked like it was just sucking it in and spiting it out the exhaust. he said this always happens to him on a stock ducati. any of you ever have this happen.

The oil breather is at the back of the engine and the breather hose goes into the back of the air box so I could see how this would happen. Even if you move the breather to the front of the air box it could still blow oil on a long wheelie. My old TT500 would do this for the same reason.

That was phlewid's bike. He posted about that in this thread:
Long wheelies harmful?

Would a "normal" crankcase breather fix that on the air cooled DS engine? (ala dirtbikes)
I saw Superbikers last nite too.
On my old S4 I replaced the factory setup w/ about a 10" hose connected to a small breather (after the oil debacle) and never looked back.
Evoluzione sells them very expensive, auto parts store sell them for practically nothing...
OH..h' HOWDY, i'm new.

Actually, I think I was cruising on balance point at about 55mph, then the front dived a litttle and I throttled up to 65 ish.
Upshifting on a wheelie at speed while turning 7k + rpm is a little too risky for me. I like to stay near balance point when shifting on wheelies. I probably should have let the front end down in the first place but, it did give me a chance to see where my limiter kicks in...
I am glad I posted this because I am now looking into the oil vent tube leak problem. I think someone suggested a typical vent tube filter/stone from a local autoparts store. Seems like a good fix to me.
