Does anyone have...
I recently snapped the head off a bolt on my Hyper when I was swapping out my bogus plastic for carbon pieces. I've had no luck getting a replacement part from a dealer.
This bolt is the one that goes through the left side plastic (or carbon) exhaust cover and also holds the battery hold down bracket to the subframe. It's about 2 inches long with a flat allen head, similiar to the other bolts that hold those panels on. The bolt isn't in the Ducati parts catalog and the dealers aren't having any luck finding a part number for me.
So if anyone out there has a wrecked or modified Hyper and has that bolt available, please let me know. I have a temporary fix for it right now but it's not very secure.

I broke the same exact bolt like 6 months ago, took it to my dealer and they had no clue. been riding with just the broken section left in place since.

I would assume that the bolt should be available in the battery hold down bracket recall kit if not anywhere else.
Is this the kind of stuff I'm going to have to put up with while owning a Ducati?

I'm sure that if it had caused me any angst I would have gone to Ace Hardware and scrounged up something that would have worked. On this particular bolt you can't see it so the head isn't too important as long as it is big enough to hold down the bogus plastic. The seat seems to hold it fine. One of these days when I have absolutely nothing else going on in my life I'll get it handled. right now I have my grandsons polini mxer to get ready for the wekend.

It's always something. Ducatis have little quirks that can drive you crazy if you let them. It's all part of the experience.
I'm going from memory here, but isn't it just a 6 mm button head allen screw? Should be able to find one at a fasteners store or from boltdepot.com.

Same thing happened to me when I was putting the Leo's on. I didn't realize there is a nut on the end of that bolt that holds it on. When I got the exhaust tuned the mechanic found a bolt that fit...not the exact right one but it works just the same.

Ace is the place! If you don't find it there you are only gonna find it at another Ace. I fell victim too when installing the Zard. You need to get an 8mm wrench on the nut from the bottom that is not visible from above. I figured it was had too much red Loctite like every other bolt and snapholio.
I have bought more nuts and bolts for bikes and atvs at Ace than are on most bikes. I usually buy more than I need and now have my own stockpile. That came in handy last weekend when I was rejetting my carb on my Rhino and stripped a float bowl screw.
Out!

Cycle Gear sells a pretty decent misc. metric screw kit. That kit and a hacksaw have bailed me out quite a few times. You can never have too many spare fasteners.

So when I break something on the Hyper, I have to go on a scavenger hunt. I guess that's part of the fun of owning a Ducati. I gotta get used to that.
