handlebar with a long enough control section

I'm looking to change my stock handlebar for something with a little less pullback and also lower than the stock one.
I noticed that most aftermarket bars have a longer center section and shorter control sections which I think is too short to fit all the controls (trottle, switch and brake for example).
I currently have a ProTaper Contour Pastrana MX Low laying in the garage. It has a nice bend but the control section is only 200mm long. I believe 220mm is needed to fit everything.

Any recommendation? trick? Is there a bar that really fit?

I use a Pro Taper Reed/Henry, and there's room for everything, including CRG bar-end mirror mounts. I don't see why yours would be any different...?

Hmmm... On the one I have, the bend start at 200mm(7 7/8 inches) so technicaly the brake clamp would be in the bend.

I tried to get a set of CR HI Protapers on, and just didn't have the room.

Pro taper has a contour bar called the 'woods low' that works well in this application. I talked to one of their engineers a few years back about a similar application (GSXR1000) and found out that the woods bars (used to be called the Hawkins bend) have the center section shrunk to narrow the bar and preserve the 7/8 section lenght. THe woods low bar works well on my HM, rotate it back to the -1 position and the angles are nice- a bit more aggressive than stock and not as 'in your lap'.

Interesting... That looks like the perfect bend for me. I'll try to find a store that have it in stock so I can mesure the length of the 7/8 section.

I looked at mine, and there's at least 215mm of useable bar before the bend.

However, the Reed/Henry bend is very similar to the stock Hyper, which doesn't sound like what you're looking for...

First of all let me say that Pro Taper have paid for Eatons baseball technology, the TAPER doesn't relate to the outside shape but the wall thickness to control flex. All others may just be cheap copies.

I tried Reed/Henry bend (Pro Taper) but it seemed the brake hoses were too short as the master cylinder wouldn't reach the 7/8" (22mm) section of the bar.

However, I noticed that FLY brand of bars were a lot shorter across the yokes before the rise started and by comparison, the 7/8" dia section was very long.

As I was looking for bars with more height I cannot say if FLY have the low bars you seek, but as Honda CR (low bend) bars are quite popular, there is a fair chance that FLY do make a set .

As we are not jumping our Hypers or slamming woop-de-doos, controlled flex of the handle bar is not such an important issue, therefore a specific bend in some cheap alternative brand of bar should not cause you any concern.

Hoping this info helps you, good luck.
