Aftermarket Seat
This is the most uncomfortable seat I have ever sat on. Have you guys replaced yours with an aftermarket? Which one do you have and why? Also, how do you like it compare to the OEM? I was told the DP made 2 different seat. Racing and gel comfort. Any other brand?
TIA

Sir, you are a lucky man! If this is the most uncomfortable seat you have ever set on!! Wow is all that I can say. Granted it is not the best, yet it is certainly not one of the worst.
You might check seargent seat to see if they have one available. I had one on my Gen 1 FZ some time ago and it was way better than a Corbin IMHO.

I agree, very uncomfortable. I bought the DP comfort seat. The comfort seat looks nicer but the comfort factor is only slightly better. Corbin makes a seat and I have had a lot of luck with their products, but it is quite expensive and and I think there is a limit to what you can do with the limited seating width.
I have tried sitting on it with my Airhawk cushion and that is pretty comfortable, but not sure it would be stable enough to ride with it. Although I may put it on for the slog to the twisties, then remove and stuff it in a backpack and ride the fun stuff without it.

I have about 900 miles on my comfort/low seat and think it quite a bit better. I believe Sargent is working on a seat for the hyper. I was contacted by a young lady at Sargent a while back about using my bike as a template but declined. She replied that she had a donor.

Sargent can modify your stock seat if you don't want to wait for their retail version to be created. I think that's not expected until this fall.

Corbin lists a seat available now. I did a custom seat for my Gran Canyon with Sargent and was extremely happy with turn around and the results.

The comfort gel seat is exceptional for longer rides and looks great too. Well worth the money (probably one of the few things worth the extra $). However, it is really just a reshaped version of the stocker with the "gel insert". I don't think the problem with the stocker is the foam, but the shape.
If you want to re-shape the stocker, then I suggest peeling back the upholstry and shaving the foam down about 1"-2" to create a flatter seating position. If you want to do this, then go on to the FZ1 Owners Association forum and do a search for "skiman's seat mod". It should help.
Others on this board have also cored the stock seat foam with a 1/1" hole saw every couple of inches and said it made the stocker better. If you do a search you will see pictures of this.
Out!

The seat that lowers the seat height has the comfort gel in it. I think it's more comfy than the stock seat - didn't do squat for the seat height though. Available from your Ducati dealer - I paid $222 for it.
Planning on taking my stock seat to a a local guy to customize for me. Looks like he works with seats shipped to him.

The stock seat worked for me until I left the straight, flat roads. Now I live off of 89A with mountain roads. I can't stand the forward slope the seat has on downhill sections. It keeps pushing me forward onto the tank. The flatter gel seat is on order.
