NEED HELP!! NEED Parts please...
Well it happened, and of course it happened like this, some lady in an SUV (who else) talking on her cell phone, not paying any attention, pretty cut me off and made drop the bike... i'm happy i'm alive and someone behind me was nice enough to stop people from running over me. Im have mostly road rash, no broken bones thank GOD! But i have one hell of bruised ego....luckily i was going slow. I'm glad she drove away and didnt stop at this point. Well anyhow I need some parts!!, my shifter broke, and so did the piece holding my foot peg to the frame. The other part i need is my left (same side as shifter) hand gaurd. I know many of you guys take them off, and I will gladly buy it or them from someone. I scratched my Fairing (gas tank plastic same side) a little as well. If anyone could help and sell me any of these parts, or could point me in the right direction to where to get them, please let me know! I have brand new DP Slip on ECU, that I can trade if someone needs enticing. Email me at joe1l@hotmail.com or IM me
Thanks
Joe

I just took my set of handguards off last night with the mirrors and turn signals. I might sell you the pair. How much do you think they are worth?

Glad to hear you are o.k. Is your shift lever broken or just bent? I waited 100 days to get one recently. I bent my old one back to the point where I could still ride. You are welcome to it If they are still on back order...

Joe, sorry to hear about your mishap and glad your OK for the most part. Freakin people not looking or paying attention. I know of so many riders being hit from drivers that just didn't see them. I'm all about being "seen" on the road. I bought a red, white and black jacket (very visible), red helmet, etc. All my friends that have been hit were all blacked out. A few don't ride anymore and the others that do, you can now see them very well with bright colors.

Glad your not hurt bad Joe. I've had some close ones the last couple years with minivan super moms on the phone. I saw one turn completely around and hand something to a kid in the back while making a turn where I was at the light.
I fix aluminum parts often. If just bent, heat evenly with a MAPP torch, bend slowly, and post heat a bit more. Let cool naturaly. I also have aluminum brazing rods that work very well for reparing broken brake pedals and shifters. TIG works well also.
100 days for a shifter? Why aren't there a dozen in the US warehouse, its a common breakable part?

Thanks guys for all the kind words, I hate being a statistic, but this will teach me to triple my distance from women in SUV's on cell phones!! And just like they say, most accident happen near your house, i was on my road!! I've got some nasty road rash on my knee, and some soarness just about every where, other that i'm ok!! I'm really bummed that my ARAI vector Ducati helmet hit the ground and got really scuffed by the mouth piece.... I tell you what I dont know how people ride with 1/2 helmets, but I have a chin today and teeth cause of my full face helmet. Thank god for my carbon fiber knuckle leather gloves by Alpine star else I wouldnt be typing right now. You can see from each of the knuckles that they took most of the beating and saved my hands. Does anyone know a place that will fix helmets, it just needs a new face shield and to be repainted around the mouth piece.
I will gladly take the shifter off your hands, since mine is completely broke and my dealer has no idea when I'll be getting one!

Glad you are OK. If you bounce a helmet with your melon in it, the mfgs say it needs to be replaced. The inside foam is made to crush on impact and will not absorbe the energy on subsequent hits. It doesn't matter if you can feel it or see it, just get a new one. Besides this one will make a nice household decoration.
Out!
