Knee down... (attn: track riders)
So I've got my first track day this weekend on the "S". I ride road race style opposed to supermoto/leg out. From what I've heard/read, it's next to impossible to get a knee down on the Hyper. Pegs grind (stock rearsets) long before that can happen.
Have you all found this to be the case?
Anyone able to get a knee down regardless?
Thanks,
B
PS: No, Rueben Xaus doesn't count... I'm talking amateurs...

Sorry, could not help it
A few months ago I was at Laguna Seca and Doug Polan was tooling around the track on a HM and he was not touching pavement with his knee.
I could pull him in the straights on my R1 but his corner speed was soooo much faster he would probably have lapped me given enough time.

Not yet! I thought I was hanging off pretty good last time out only to see pics later that clearly showed I was still more or less on the center of the seat!! My next day out is June 27 and I will be making a concious effort to drag a knee rather than being concerned my lap times. Maybe I'll have better pics to send you then!
Az_Scott's avatar looks as though he got close or actually got a knee down. Scott- What's the secret?????????
Cheers

Well...
I'm not Ruben Xaus!

Basically, you just have to hang your body out a little more than you normally would. A whole cheek, so to speak. This is how we did it back in the days of UJM inline 4's with no ground clearance. Old school, baby!

Hopefully I'll have some pics to post and compare!!!! I'll definitely have to stretch first. Maybe double up on the sliders too! Ha.

I tore my left Toe Slider off my alpinestars in a tight left hander - my knee still has a couple of inches to go. This happened as I overtook our club president on his 1098...
Turn One into the back straight (Johor Circuit Malaysia) is still begging for a knee down - I'll be back practicing that one in a couple of weeks.

Knee down is super easy on the HYM... Here we are at Talladega GP. There were 5 HYM at our track day today at Putnam - knee dragging was happening as well.
