Standard or S??
I am very close to pulling the trigger on a hyper however I am wondering if the S is worth the extra $$.
I am currently riding a 2004 Aprilia Tuono Racing with full Ohlins so I would like to know if I should spend the extra $$ now or perhaps look into a full Ohlins setup later on.
Thanks,
JCIII

My standard handles great and I don't think I will ever need the extra brakes or quality suspension for the street. I do have ohlins on my track bike and had it on my previous bike. If you can afford it, why the hell not?
But, I chose to spend the difference in money on a termi and some other cool bits. I have a standard worth as much as an S, but with the upgrades that I want on it.

I just bought the "S" model a week ago and so far I don't have any regret. I paid for the "S" model for almost the same price of the regular model MSRP. If you do your homework and call around, you can get a good deal out there. Go for the "S" if you have the extra $$$.

The wheels and brakes are the reason I chose the "S". The re-work on the forks are fine, but I will end up putting AK 20 cartridges in the forks any way. I like the ohlin in the rear but if it didn't have it I would put on a pensky.
I think it is worth it. The carbon is a plus on looks too.

For me, the decision came down to which one could I get sooner.
The HM-S came available first, so I went that way and used the lighter wheels as my rationalization for spending the extra $.
I couldn't have cared less about the extra CF bits that came with the HM-S. In the end, I found the HM-S front brake overly sensitive for my tastes and swapped out the front master cylinder for a 19x18 Brembo. I have no opinion on the fork tube coating.

I think if you are riding 2004 Aprilia Tuono Racing with full Ohlins you will regret it if you dont get the S "imo",I thought about this as well and got the S but still waiting for it to arrive.

Me too, regarding waiting. In my case, it would have been a long wait for the standard. I have to say I love the carbon bits and the forged wheels though. Not so happy with the hair trigger front brake, although I've gotten used to it for casual riding. It's the panic stop situations (like getting cut off by an SUV) that I worry about.
The best deal, IMHO, is to look for a nice used one. You can save thousands over buying new at the dealer and put the money you save into upgrades.
