Recall Notice
I guess Ducati thought it was important enough to do a re-call. It's for the license plate bracket. It's about damn time

I just got mine installed today, along with the little plastic guide things for the front turn signal wires.
That makes four updates now - trip odo firmware fix, battery clamp, and these two things. The license plate bracket is the only one they ever called me about.

What exactly is wrong with the license plate bracket and what is the fix?

It's all because of this old story, now in US our plates are way smaller and lighter. The new mount is a few gage thicker, no big deal, but a again it is a safety issue that Ducati does not want to take any risks on... I received the notice in the mail today too.

I am using a modified one from the Zard kit. However, the one I took off my Hyper was beefy as hell and I can't imagine it breaking. Perhaps the later production run cured this problem. I have not recieved any type of notice either.
That one in the picture looked like had some rust on it already. I bet it had been cracked for some time prior to it breaking.
Out!

I recently brought my bike in for the recall but I don't see what they replaced. It doesn't look like anything was changed. Hmmm.

No charge, so no parts replaced!
I didn't see any sign of the license bracket change either, but the tech was screwing with it for two hours so I'm assuming something was changed!
Most of that time I think was fitting the turn signal wire covers. That involved removing the beak and the handguards and figuring out how to attach the little plastic plates. Highly complex operation
And when I got home one of the beak's screws was about to fall out. The guy forgot to tighten it. Maybe I pressured them too much to get the job done "quickly". I wouldn't have been whining so much if they'd let me take one of the 1098 demos out! But no.
