boots for big feet?
I'm looking for some boots for my big-a** feet! I wear size 14, and find most boots just way too bulky and stiff. I end up missing shifts,or just having to concentrate too much on foot placement. I currently ride in my favorite pair of skateboarding shoes but these obviously don't provide any sort of protection from either a crash, or that buzz saw open clutch! The other day my pant cuff got sucked in and jammed so bad that I couldn't clutch out..

I would check out the riding boots made by Alpinestars, Sidi, Garene, or something similar. They make versions to wear that go over the top of your leathers or a more casual version that can be worn with jeans over the top. They also make some shorty boots now that just go over your ankles. In any case, they have narrow and flat tips, which should help with shifting. I really like my Alpinestars SMX plus perforated versions. They look a little racey, but some of the versions are more casual.
In your case, I recommend leathers. I wear perforated leathers year round and they are good to about 45-50* and great for the warm weather.
Good luck, you can't beat new gear that performs well too!
Out!

Are your feet wide? If so, forget Sidi or Alpinestars. They're cut very narrow in the toe, even if they have your size. I wear a 12 (Euro 46), and with a wide foot, it's hell finding boots that fit. The last pair I found that really fit me were Diadora, and I don't even think you can get those in the US any more.
Your best bet may just be custom boots from Z leathers, or Vanson, etc.
And BTW, I've been warning people about this: If you're going to run an open clutch on a Hypermotard, do NOT wear loose pant legs or shoe laces!

Thanks for the help guys. Riding with the loose cuffs and open clutch is an obvious no-no. I took a calculated risk, and lost. Luckily, this happened right in front of the shop where I work. I was wearing over the boot style motocross pants that had zip-off lower legs that convert into shorts. This thing was so bunched up under the clutch cover that I had to zip off the lower leg to get off my bike, then remove the cover to free it up! It was then that I pictured myself pushing my bike through a busy intersection, in my underware, dragging my mangled pants behind. Or worse. Luckily the only thing hurt in this was my ego. That being said, any suggestions on rear sets that may give me a little more adjustment? I'm thinking this may give these boats I call feet, a little more room to roam.

Sidi does make a Mega size series that is for wide feet. I have Sidi dirt bike boots, Sidi mountain bike shoes, Sidi road bicycle shoes, and soon Sidi street boots. I wear a 10-1/2 EEEE shoe and a Sidi Mega series in a size 45 Euro fits me in anything they make. I really like the comfort and quality of everything I have and they all have held up very well.

Call the gang at Helimot. I was just there getting ome boots with GoreTex liners (Daytona Boots) and they had some that were friggin' gigantic. And being German goots, they're not cut narrow like Italian ones. And they've got huge ones in several different styles.
(408)298-9608 Tues thru Sat, 10am to 6pm Pacific (10-5 on Sat).
tell them Buckelew sent you.

I just want to make sure that you're talking about boots. I don't know what a goot is, but appently the Germans have big ones.
I am going to buy my Sidi boots from Steve at Pinit Motorsports, he does not have them stocked on the floor. That is who I bought my dirt boots from. I have seen them at Knee Draggers. I think it would be best to try Helimot like Buckelew mentioned as being able to try on the boots first in always the best.
