I bought my Hypermotard August last year and now I am sick of hearing Singles that are louder than the stock mufflers on my HM. What will happen if I try to make a different muffler or get rid of the cat, will the thing run without purchasing a new ECU or would it be best to get a power comander to solve my problems. Any info would be great

Some people claim replacing the cat with a LV system helps improve sound and performance even with the stock can. Some people have gutted the cat and stock cans too, but it is a lot of work and you need a torch and welder or pay someone to do it.

As for the stock ecu, unless you go to a high flow filter and modified air box lid you can get by with the stock ECU. You may still need to adjust the fuel mixture once you increase flow. The Rapid Bike programmer will work with the stock ECU, but it is spendy too. You can actually by a DP ECU for around $300 of one of the members here or eBay.
