Yes most likely normal. If it seems to be working fine other then the noise I wouldn't be to concerned. Not sure if you are aware but your HM has a dry clutch that will make more and more music with some miles. I would bet you are just hearing the plates doing their work down there. If you are concerned take the cover off and have a look. Many Ducati owners open up the clutch to hear it sing. I love it when I am at a stop light and the guy in the cage next to me keeps looking over to see what is wrong with my bike......

clutch noise
yeah just wondering
my mate came over to check out the HM and hes got the exposed clutch on his monster.
Gezz I thought it sounded like a washing machine with 60 coins into
on spin
Ive got the temi slip-ons without the DKs
my neighbours "Cute" wife thinks the HM is sick and sound like a sweet V8
O I love these bikes

For the first 200mi. my bike would make a funky noise on clutch out. The only way I can describe it is like when a high speed sealed bearing starts loosing lubrication. Kind of a "BZZZAAP".This was not the sweet clatter of dry discs. It went away and never came back. What I think it comes down to is clutch chatter on apply which disappeared once the discs were broken in and seated.

My clutch was a bit noisy and grabby for a couple hundred miles. Now it's one of the best feeling clutches I've ever had.

very normal with new clutch friction plates to hear strange noises when letting the clutch engage.
either tolerate it, or ... remove the clutch cover, blow some filtered compressed air into the clutch while running the bike on a rear wheel stand and pulling/letting out the clutch lever. this will blow all/most of the friction plate dust out from the clutch pack, and will stop the noise.
if you decide to run an open clutch cover, the air moving through while riding keeps the dust clear from the plates.
if you decide to run a closed clutch cover, the noise might come back again ... then simply repeat the process above to clean the clutch pack out again.
ciao,
johnc

I too had the squeling noise the first 300km. Now it's gone. It's at 1500km now. Just under a month use.
Last week I decided to remove the rubber gasket for the stock clutch cover, it's beginning to sound slightly more like a dry clutch bike now. Can't wait for my vented covers to arrive

...more clutch grinding sound at take off
I have a 2005 999 that I bought with 1700 miles on it. Around 5000 miles or so I noticed the clutch would make a grinding sound at take-off when I was letting it out, especially if I was on a hill and gave it more gas. (It's not the Ducati "bag of change" rattling noise, I know what that is.) It came on when the bike was hot, above 200 deg F.
Then one day I lost all pressure in the clutch and to make a long story short, I brought it in and replaced the slave cylinder at the 6K service. The clutch sound went away after that. But after a few hundred miles it's back (6400 miles now). It's worst when the bike is hot, > 200 deg. When the bike is cold, I don't hear it at all.
The dealer said it's normal but I've never heard another Duc make this noise. They called it the "Ducati Squaw"
Also I have an open cover and I ride on freeways enough to blow dust out of the clutch - or at least that's what I think.
Any ideas on how to fix the problem? I really hate the sound. It just sounds like two pieces of metal grinding really hard. ....can't be good.
Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

If you got an aftermarket pressure plate you need to index the marks on the pressure plate with the marks on the clutch basket bolt stem.
Out!
