MPL Slave Cylinder

I finally got around to installing my MPL slave cylinder. Nice piece and quality work. Overall, it was a pretty easy install along with my Rizoma reservoirs. It came with a couple of different sized o-rings, some copper crush washers, and another small piece which I think is for earlier model bikes. I would have like some basic directions, but easy enough to guess a little. I used the larger o-ring as it was closest to the stock size, but a little smaller.

I did a little ride around the hood and it really makes the clutch pull lighter. I am guessing 30% like they claim maybe a little more. At first, it seemed like it was a little harder to find neutral and that the clutch wasn't total engaging. I bled it again and it improved. I also notice that when I leave my lever adjsuted all the way forward it seems to shift easier. Anyway, I will get some miles in tomorrow and see how it does.

The only thing I don't like about the cylider is the red anodized coating is a matte finish and not a gloss like most other anodized pieces. I tried to clear coat it and it looked great, but the clear coat would not stick and simply rubbed off with fingernails. I probably would have went for all black if I had know this.

Yes, um we call them indentured cylinders these days.

I was looking at the STM, is there a specific reason you chose the MPL?

I liked the aesthetics of the cut on the MPL and I had to order some other stuff and it was a good price from RageMoto, so that was basically the decision. I wish the finish was shiny otherwise I am happy.

I got a couple hundred miles in today and it performed well overall. There were still times where finding neutral was a difficult and it was notchy getting into neutral most of the time. I have heard of some people putting a shim inside the slave cylinder to push the rod further to engage the clutch. Does anyone have any eperience with this or is it going to cause more problems than it is worth?

I was also thinking of backing off some of the pressure from the pressure plate springs to see if that would improve the shifting.

Can you do any further adjustments on this hydraulic clutch?

Thanks!
