Is the Hyper right for me?
Alright guys, I currently own a 98 748. I love this bike but after some riding I start to feel uncomfortable. I have noticed that the hyper is more upright. Do any of you own a superbike and the Hyper? Should i keep the 748 and add a Hyper to the stable? These bikes look awesome and I think the more upright seating position may suit me better. I have already found a great deal of information from this forum. Thanks in advance!

Well a superbike and the HM are two different breeds thats for sure. As for comfort, the HM is great. I have no issues with the exception of a little monkey butt after a few hours in the saddle but that can be said of most bikes really and most superbikes that I have ridden the seat isn't that great either. I was just riding the other day and thought wow this is so much more comfy then most bikes. I like to call my HM a half breed. Its 1/2 Sumo and 1/2superbike because it does not truly fit into either category perfectly but has some of the best qualities of each. Go take one for a test ride and I would bet you will be hooked. I've seen others post on here that said once then got the HM the other bikes they have get lonely............
Welcome and goodluck

I have a 1098 and the Hyper and I think they compliment each other well. I track the 1098 and do some canyon carving on the street. Depending on the day and the other riders, I'll take the hyper and enjoy it equally.
I must say the Hyper is easier to just jump on and ride without a lot of thought. Of course either way I am stopping for gas often!

I get regularly over 180km's on odo before fuel light comes on, seating position couldn't be more upright, pretty much.
On highways i just slide my ass on the wider part of seat to get forward lean to make high speed droning more comfortable, in city riding i sit front, and that is biggest difference in motards and superbikes, you can actually move your ass on motard seats, alot.. which i like.

I just traded my 748 for a hyper, I loved the lil superbike (especially the looks), but for a guy that's bike only it just didn't work. the HypMo's upright position is great and it's really confidence inspiring. I rode the 748 for almost a year and I never did "get it" as much as I loved it. Had I ridden it on the track I think I would have enjoyed it more. Ideally I'd keep both, the Hyper as the wife and the 748 as a mistress. I guess I'll just have to settle for my really super hot wife, who happens to be great in the sack.

I have a 916, a Bimota DB2, 907 i.e., BMW K1200S and the HM1100S all on the road now. I first experienced Hyper-like riding qualities from a '96 KTM LC4 Duke. But the Duke was no good for two-up and my wife is a fab pillion. So when the Hyper was unleashed, it was a natural for us. Nowadays we ride the Beemer and Hyper on and off and take the 907 out on Sundays (she's getting long in the tooth, soon to be approaching 20 years old with 50,000 miles).
But back to topic, of course I still enjoy solo 916 and DB2 stints in the superbike position, so it's all in what you have the capability (time, space. wallet) for, but as they say here,"...it's ALL good!"

The REAL question is: Are YOU right for the Hyper?

don't have a hyper, but do have both a 748 and a multistrada. like the 748, especially in the twisties or on the track. love the multi no matter where I ride! after this summer, the 748 will be sold. can't think of selling the multi.

Thanks for all the advice. I want to see if I could take one out this weekend. I have only had the 748 for six months. It is fun but I think it's just not the right bike for me. Every time I go into the dealership, one of the salesman is always pressuring me to trade my bike in. I'll see what happens after this weekend.
