Brake/Clutch Fluid???
I am about to swap out my stock urine sample bottles for some Rizoma brake and clutch reservoirs. Is it a problem to mix brands and types of brake fluid? I have no ideat what is in the Hyper stock, but I bought a can of Castrol synthetic that exceeds all DOT 3 and 4 specs.
I have never thought much about it in the past and topped off my reservoirs, but never did a complete swap or flush. I only have about 1300 miles on it, so its not like it is bad.

Technically, if the owners manual says use DOT 3/4, you can add any brand of DOT 3/4 to what's in there, and it should be fine.
But if you're changing out your reservoirs, you're emptying out probably 80% of what's in the whole system, anyway. So why not just flush it all out and start fresh with one kind? That way, you're removing any contaminants that might be in there, and you can get the thing bled and ready to go.
I prefer to use a high-quality fluid like Motul 600, but the stuff you have is probably fine...

Exactly what Scott said, I use the same stuff in my 749 racebike and all my street bikes.
Post pics when you change them out and also, let us know where you got your reservoirs. I am in the market for some and want the best price of course.

Mine are black too. They are a sweet product. I got mine at PJsparts and his prices are good, service great, and shipping was fast. As far as I know, I haven't seen anyone else selling Rizoma stuff locally and he stocks his stuff too.

I installed the rear brake reservoir tonight and it looks good. I had to trim the mounting tab off to fit it, but a Dremel worked well for that.
Now the problem is, I can't get the air bled from the system. I am using a MityVac and it still seems to have air trapped in the system. I went through 1.5 cans of fluid and the pedal still seems soft until it is depressed at least 2-2.5". I pulled the air bleed nipple and wrapped a little teflon tape on the threads, because I thougth it might be leaking air back into the sytem. It seemed to help, but still doesn't seem to want to bleed out. I thought I might use a syringe and try to force some fluid up into the bleeder valve, as I think the air is trapped in the master cylinder.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Without using the Mityvac, try just running a piece of clear hose from the bleed nipple UP and OVER into a container. Then, using the old-fashioned method (i.e., pump the pedal and hold - crack the bleeder - tighten the bleeder - pump the pedal and hold... repeat), see what's coming out of the bleeder.
If there are air bubbles in the system, you'll see them at the top of the hose. Keep pumping until no more bubbles come out. It shouldn't take more than a couple of fills of the reservoir until fresh fluid has gone completely through the system...

I actually started doing it that way (clear tube and bottle) and at first I wasn't even able to get the rear brake to hold the tire at all.
I actually gained some ground with the MityVac. Somehow when I pulled the stock reservoir I got a lot of air in the sytem. I think when I let the hose go it drained out and got some air in the master cylinder.
I have never had so much work bleeding brakes.........cars, trucks, or bikes. I guess I will be more careful with the clutch and front brakes.
Out!
