Just wanted to say Thanks!
Having the BBS is like having your own 1-800 tech crew to call. I know it sounds stupid, but I wanted to adjust the chain on my Hyper last night and after having owned 99% sportbikes with standard swingarms, I was bent thinking I would have to buy a f'in spanner wrench. Did a little searchy search and found in another post that you can loosen the 2 bolts and grab a hold of the chain gauard and BAM, done in about 2 minutes. Its nice having this "support group" 24 hours a day.
Hi, my name is Shane Williams, and I am addicted to motorcycles.

Here, let me tell you how......:-)
Get the back end of the bike off the ground (rear stand or however you choose). Take a 14 MM deep socketand shorty extension on your 3/8" ratchet and simply break the 2 bolts on the top of the "hub" on the rear wheel. While sitting on the left side of the bike at the rear wheel, take your right hand and literally grab the chain guard and pull it towards the back of the bike. It will start to rotate down, thus pulling the sprocket assembly back with it. Tighten the bolts down a little, drop the bike, check chain tension, if good, tighten the 2 bolts back up all the way, otherwise lift her back up and loosen or tighten the chain to desired tension.
It literally was that easy.

I believe that the tool kit has a spanner wrench. I maybe wrong but my 996 had one.

Anyone have an exploded view of the swing arm & chain adjust mechanism from the manual?

Yeah, thanks!
Unless there's a "dummy's guide" image to adjusting the chain...it's been 11 years since I had my 916 and can't remember how the adjuster works. Those Italian engineers are clever .
