buying new bike - twitchy? and city commuter

need some advice

been off a bike for about 5 years; but have around 10 riding experience under my belt.
i have been researching new bike and really like the hyper

couple questions:
  • is it really twitchy?
  • daily commuter in San Francisco - feasible?
  • i am 6'4" 210 I really liked the that the bike was taller - is comfortable for all of you?
  • if i have been off a bike for 5 years - is it to much bike for me?
  • agile in traffic?

thank you --

  • is it really twitchy?
It has its moments, just like any other sport bike. The Hyper is fairly sensitive to proper suspension set up, so play around with it until you get it where you like it. I certainly wouldn't call it "really twitchy".
  • daily commuter in San Francisco - feasible?
Sure, why not?
  • i am 6'4" 210 I really liked the that the bike was taller - is comfortable for all of you?
I'm 6' 0", 195, and the bike has plenty of room. You might possibly want to look into some bar risers, but otherwise, you should fit fine. Honestly, at 6' 4", you're going to be big on any sport bike, but whatcha gonna do. Michael Jordan rides Ducatis...
  • if i have been off a bike for 5 years - is it to much bike for me?
With 10 years previous experience, you should be fine. Just take it slow for a while and get the cobwebs off. Some people even get a little rusty after the so-called "winter off-season", whatever that is. Maybe consider taking a refresher MSF course...
  • agile in traffic?
Absolutely. If you split lanes a lot, you might want to ditch the stock mirrors and get some optional types. Otherwise, it's an awesome city bike. Torquey, nimble, good visibility all around you. What else could you want?

I use it as a daily commuter in a city of spatially unaware morons. 4.5m people packed into an island 40km wide, 99% of whom should have their licenses revoked.
The Hyper is far easier to control and lane split that a blade or similar sportsbike. I'd say it is ideal for your needs - but definitely get the mirror extenders.
I'm 6'3" and down to a measly 240lbs and find it very comfortable.
I have the tank bag and the rear bag. Forget the side bags, they will take your knee room away.
I had a 4 year break before I got the Hyper. No learning curve. Just point and shoot.
