I bought the Zard collectors from Desmoworks. He shipped them fast and they went on realy easy. I was actually able to leave the slipon installed while putting on the zard pipes. I installed the headers first loosly and then the mid pipe. I slipped the midpipe into the muffler end first and then collectors. Installed springs, tightened header bolts and lastly the muffler clamp. The aluminum support bracket for the cat has to be removed which reveals a hole for the new bolt. You will need some washers equal to the thickness of the bracket to shim the foot peg bracket. I also had my friend cut off the ugly heat shield and grind it smooth. I buffed the pipes with red Scotchbrite and then degreased them. After warmup they turned a nice golden silver color. I neglected to locktite the big bolt so after one ride it's gone. At $500 I'm pleased to not have bought the Termi ones. The quality of the Zard parts is very good with the exception of the heat shield. They sound mean and between the cat and valve thing I probably shed 5lbs.
Sweet! Now that I have my Zard Top Guns on, I am gonna do the header and cat eliminator soon. I think I am gonna coat mine black. I agree, ditching that heat shield is well worth the headache.
