Hi,
First of all for my first post, i would like to say what i great forum this is. I have been an active viewer for 6 months but never got round to registering till this morning.
I have owned my Hyper since last October, and over the winter decieded to change the look of the rear end to something closer to the hyperstrada style. Personally i think the std rear looks to heavy and bulky and is not just not sharp enough in its styling. This is compoiunded by the 2-1 termi, and current aftermarket tail tidy's which are designed for the 2-2 exhausts. I did'nt want to spend a fortune and the end result has cost me £100 in painting and 15quid for smaller licence plate. Also weight loss in brackets, and fixings is some 2 kg which is unbelievably bad design by Ducati in my opinion. The rear subframe has been painted red to match the frame and the side panels, and license plate fixings have all been ditched. A simple aluminium plate provide fixing for the number plate which is a 7"x5", and number plate light. I have had a couple of attempts at getting the mounting height, and angles correct to ensure that their is adequate clearance between the rear hugger and number plate, and all seems fine now, albeit i don't take pillions. I have also removed all of the health and safety stickers from the battery and provided some vaseline protection to the rear light cluster wiring connectors as their is a tendancy with this arrangement for more water than usual to find its way under the seat. To finish off the exhaust fixing bracket needs revision as does not have that factory look, and the end exhaust down pipe angle will be change by about 5degrees so that the silencer runs parrellel but closer to the bottom frame rail of the subframe. So far i am pretty pleased with my handy work, so share with you all and hopefully give inspiration for htose among you who don't think the hyper rear end is quite right with 2-1 termi fitted.
