Ohlins Steering Damper
At the suggestion of another list member, I talked to Dan Kyle about fitting an Ohlins rod/piston style damper to the Hypermotard. I'm planning on going down to his shop this week for him to take a look at my bike to see if its going to be feasible for him to fabricate the hardware to make it work.
Not sure if its going to be a set up similar to the DP damper or a Storz like setup, with the damper mounted mounted low. Hopefully it will be similar to the DP setup. Anyway, if he's going to make something I'll get the cost info and post it later this week.

pete -
why not consider the ohlins/scotts rotary damper ... i spoke to scotts and they advised they will have a mount kit for the rotary damper for hypertards in about three weeks.

DP has an Ohlins rotary damper for the HM listed, its about a $1k. Maybe the one you're talking about will be less costly. I'm thinking that a piston type damper would be adequate at around half the cost or less of a rotary.

Any difference at all between the Scotts and Ohlins? Aside from the "Brand" recognition...

The Scott is made under an Ohlins license. Not sure if they are exactly the same however. The internal valving and damping rates could be different.

The Ohlins is made under a license from Scott's. It is a Scott's damper with the Ohlins name engraved on it.
