I have not been a big fan of the Bridegestones for the corners. I have a buddy who likes them and he bought my stockers of the base model for $100. I put Pilot Power 2CTs on mine right away and love them and get good mileage.
That being said a couple of things need to be done to improve traction. 1) Make adjustments to your suspension. The front of this bike is very twitchy as delivered and mine is 100% better when adusted for my weight and riding style. 2) You can change the air pressure 1-2 psi to get better traction and the tires will heat up better. You may compromise your turn in ability a little, but that worked very well on my FZ1. For the Hyper, I run 32F and 36R and it seems really good for the PP 2CTs. You need to get one of those analog dial guages with the air bleeder if you really want to know what pressure you are running. A digital one would work too, but the analog are more accurate. The stick guages are too hard to read.

excellent advice! yes, i agree with the suspension, id like to dial out a little compression dampening, mine is set for a 170-175 pound rider aggresive(track days) by the dealer, im used to a true supermoto bike...
also, are you guys removing the servo exhaust valve and loosing all the compression braking? i really like it(brake effect) and still have mine attached even though ive got all the termi stuff and no cat/O2 sensor...

ive used michelin pilots that ive bought as race take offs before and LOVED them(once they were warmed up)...maybe im just expecting more traction than is avail on slow speed tight stuff...im used to a ktm duke/supermoto type bike? kinda scary to push/slide a $15k motorcycle around, maybe i should have stuck to the supermotos
i do love the motor in this bike! torquey Vtwin is serious fun without slapping thru the gears like a 4cylinder superbike...

I have had a gust of wind push me over about 1 foot when I was leaned into a corner before I had ajusted the suspension and last weekend I felt the rear slip a little on a section of road with a lot of tar snakes and some wind. Part of this I think is due to the bike being so light.
The good think is that when it hooked back up I never missed a beat in spite of being leaned in pretty good and running 50-60 mph.
Out!

Last year I went to a track day and three bikes went down. All of the riders say the tires just seemed to go without warning. We checked all three bikes and they were all running Bridgestones. I have never found anybody who likes Bridgestone street tires. I think their track tires are alittle better but then again all I will run are Mich. or Pirelli. I have been hearing good things about the Continental tires lately, though.

Oh yeah, this was another reason I like the "S" model.
