Stock exhaust - coating peeling off

Took a look under the seat the other day and noticed the black (paint?) coating peeling off the stock exhaust - just around the mounting points on one side of the twin pipes under the seat. Quality issues? Is this a valid warranty claim? Can't quite decide which way too go yet with an exhaust upgrade, but don't fancy the thought of the stock 'falling apart', albeit cosmetically, on me while I continue running with it. Has anyone seen the same?
