Eliminating code after disabling flapper valve...

Supposedly when you enter the value 0.0 under the hidden menu, "EXVL" the "code" you get when unplugging the flapper valve or removing it will be disabled/eliminated. I haven't tried this yet, but will when I install my Leo Vince system with the stock ecu. This info came from an engineer at Leo Vince who just tried this and has had success with it.

That's interesting. I've asked about that exvl before. I assume that by changing the number you change when the valve opens and closes.

Or whether it opens and closes at all... perhaps the system just ignores it or bypasses it altogether when set to 0.0.

I've played with it. I made mine manually open, close, it indicates a value, but it reverts back to auto when started. This set value thing to disable? Please do tell !

Service manual says the purpose of changeing the value is so the motor will move to a position to enable the valve actuating cables to be connected.

This from the LV tech. Again, I have yet to test it myself:

At “0.0” the servo disk points at 6 o’clock and then centers itself when the bike is turned on again. It still goes through its normal check on startup but no longer has a code. I ran it on the dyno quite a bit on Thursday and Friday (shutting it down and starting it many times) and never had a code again.

I just drilled and tapped a screw so that the servo is stopped were the cables would normally stop. The menu way is much better.

I was fiddilin with mine yesterday and you can turn the valve to 0.0 but all you can do is shut it off from there. No way to make it stick. So I set mine to 0.0 and then shut the key off. Later while trying to diagnose some engine problems I got the exhaust valve engine code. So the 0.0 thing doesn't work. But if you do get a code all you have to do is hold up on the toggle while turning the key on so it will go into program mode. Then shut the key back off. The code will be clear.

I guess I will just stick to my limit screw until I get the cams.
