Aluminum Subframe
I was just on Shift-Tech's web site checking out some new parts and saw they have a black aluminum subframe available now. Looks very nice.
I'm curious to know if it's strong enough to carry a passenger. Lets say maybe a 19 year old, 5'6" tall model, weighing in around 115 pounds... or my slightly heavier wife.

Personally, there's no way I would carry a passenger on an aluminum subframe, unless it was an OEM part, specifically designed for that job. You'd be taking a huge risk, IMO...

I'm not sure I understand what the fear is? My Honda came with an aluminum subframe as do most sportbikes. Is the geometry wrong or something?

I've seen some other aluminum subframes for the Hyper where they say it's not intended to carry passengers. To keep it light they don't build it as strong as the stocker.
The aluminum subframes on sportbikes are engineered to carry that weight, some of these aftermarket units aren't.

There's one on a german website which is definitly 'biposto' - so the description says. This had been posted earlier, but I didn't find it... so click here.
Copy the link and use the Google Translator on it.

You could have just asked me, I am Germany .
What it means is that it's a direct replacment for the stock subframe so you can still use the " biposto" aplication but it also reads no TUV wich means it is not certified for legal street use. Same subframe as we now offer, they all come from Italy and are beeing sold in Germany as well.
Exactly for this reason we have a disclaimer and sell them for race purposes only, in Europe they just ride no TUV .
I just mounted one on my bike and I will carry a passenger if I ever have to. I like the way they are made and all did fit right on it, as always I test everything first on my bike

It was just a hypothetical situation.
