Helmet Lock ?
Hey,
I am curious if any of you clever guys have came up with some simple helmet lock to lock the helmet to the frame of the bike. I find it annoying sometimes running around and having to carry the helmet everywhere I go. I finally got tired and clicked chin strap around the frame of the bike and it looked like it was locked to the bike, but of course in NYC someone got nosy and stole the helmet in broad day light. A very nice and expensive schuberth down the drain. This was not a smart move on my part at all.
So, has anyone came up with a simple lock for the helmet ? If not any suggestions ?

I used one of these on my Triumph S3 and it worked pretty good. Been thinking about getting one for the HM. Just need to figure out were to mount it so it is not obtrusive.
I think they are about $20 bucks and you can get them at most cycle shops or JP Cycles and places like that.

I think it requires a 7/8ths or 1 in. bar or frame tube for a mounting location which I couldn't find on the HM. I made up a cable with loops on both ends that I thread thru the arm of my jacket and the chinbar of my helmet and attach to the frame with a padlock. Just a thought.

Motion Pro makes one too. I think Cycle Gear carries them. The problem with the bolt on options is that they can be unscrewed. I would at least splash on some red thread locker.
If you want to go simple and inexpensive, I would just get a combination lock at Wal Mart or the hardware store and it should fit around the subframe and chin strap d-rings. You can carry it in your pocket.
Out!

I mounted this version on my lower rear silver tube so it sort of tucks into the carbon side panel and it worked great...until I installed the LV exhaust. Now I have a small melted spot on my helmet and a small black spot on my left side pipe!...and I'm looking for a new spot to hang my brain bucket!
Cycle Gear carries these for less than $20.
Cheers

I know the type of lock I had on the S3 had screws but they were not regular slotted screw driver type screws, they were funny screws (thats a technical term since I don't know what they call them... ) Anyway a regular screw driver did not work very easily on them, you had to have the a very large screwdriver head and yes a little loc-tite could help or position it so its not very easy to get at once the helmet is attached. A regular old combo lock is not a bad idea either if you don't mind carrying it around. I guess its just depends on how you want to tackle it.

I keep a copy of all my documents in the little glove box wrapped up in the tool kit. Its not the best place and can be a pain to get out if I get pulled over, but I hope that never happens.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions for the helmet lock, I appreciate it.
